PvP.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] (Ladies and Gentlemen, good evening. Welcome to my one-shot SL. As you all know there is a requirement of at least an Intelligence of 3. I hope that everyone is able to fulfill that. Now without further ado I give you the disclaimer.

This is a mixture of rp and combat orientated scene. However this is a non-lethal scene, nor will the combat be the traditional type. Please be well aware that I am making a subtle change to that. If anyone has a problem with that please inform me now so I may address it now.

There is no major aspect of what one would call gore, sexually explicit imagery or excessive vulgar language (sorry) on my behalf. However there is the potential for temporary flaws and taint should the situation arise. I ask that anyone who has a problem with that please speak up now.

Further more if anyone has any flaws, specialty, phobia or taints/ triat influences please PM them to me now.

This understood?)

[Gamer Extraoridarine] (With that settled. Thank you for your patience and... away we go.)

The Cabrini-Green was not the typical place one would think to find a gaming association to hold such a wonderful event. Maybe it was the fact that they were still a smaller organization trying to vie up against the juggernaut known as the American team. Maybe they were a satellite group recruiting for subs, or potential replacements for the 'elder' gamers.

However the place they chose was not some run down game store. It was state of the art, networked line that seemed to rival the university and the collider labs that were located outside of Chicago boundries. This place was a mecha in the middle of a slum, the gaming diamond in the rough.

This is where lines of gamers set up camp. Some waiting since last night to get in on this, worried they may not be chosen. The store just holding off those that were waiting. Offering up their wares, pokemon cards, dragonball collectables, chances at the new released.

A perfect media target leading into the two story building.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] Damn right some have been waiting since last night. Alex is right up near the door, camped out the way he does Thanksgiving night, waiting for Black Friday. He's got a lawn chair, an umbrella, a little battery-operated portable heater that he keeps snapping at other gamers to get the fuck away from because you're stealing my fucking heat, man. And he has his PSP, which he's avidly playing with while he waits for the gates of heaven the gamerpub to open.

[Ash Wickham] Some people have been waiting all day to get into this place. Ash is not one of them. He, like many professionals his age, worked most of the day. Granted, he made sure his shift began as early as possible so he had some chance of getting here without being stuck stranded at the back of the line which, when he cranes his head around to look, extends all the way out to the ass end of Nowhere.

He's not at the front. He's quite a ways back, actually. And he's surrounded by teens or younger kids with their parents. He stands out. He doesn't look like the typical gamer. He's wearing a tan blazer over a black polo, jeans and old old sneakers that are frayed at the seams. But Ash grew up with Nintendo. He remembers Atari. And as the years went on, he tried his hand at most of the consoles that came out.

There are earbuds in his ears to drown out the sound of the crowd, and to keep people from starting up conversations with him. Today, Ash has no desire to form temporary line buddies. His hands are shoved into the pockets of his jacket, and his head bobs along to whatever tune is trying to break his ear drums at this moment.

[Danicka Musil] She is, as she was for the release of the gaming system that doesn't quite run 'Harvester' like the VR experience she and Lee had, very near the front of the line. Danicka is a student with no job and vast coffers of expendable income. She has been here since last night with a chair made of canvas stretched over a wood frame, she has been bundled against the cold with a blanket over her legs, and though there are faint dark circles under her eyes from sleeplessness, she otherwise looks smashing.

She has her iPhone. She's been quite entertained. Her fingernails are manicured. Her hair is in a braid under a knit cap. She looks neither like a gamer nor the girlfriend of a gamer, nor like the sort of woman who would want or need to spend all night outside in a line waiting for something like this. She is, however, the woman who ordered fifteen pizzas around two in the morning.

Danicka is ahead of Alex. She's most certainly noticed him, as he's the only person in the line she knows and he's quite loud. She's taking a can of Red Bull out of her bag and cracking it open.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] Alex has most certainly noticed Danicka, in return. And by notice we mean, tried to chat her up, get her number, cut in line behind her.

That failed. Totally. So there he is, about ten feet behind her, camped out, beach umbrella and beach chair and heater and PSP and backpack full of high-calorie, high-energy snacks to keep him going through a 48-hour gaming marathon; guarding his tiny space heater with all the jealousy and viciousness of a ill-raised dog.

[Moira Murray] She can’t remember how long she has been standing in this line. It has been hours, but not overnight, not like some of the more diehard fanatics that this event has drawn out. She is quiet, her back pressed to the wall with her head dipping down every now and then to glance at the Nintendo DS she held in her left hand.

Her attention moving between whatever brain game she was playing and the line to see just how further it might move. A navy blue pea coat hugs her frame, brushing against mid-thigh. She wore dark blue jeans tucked into flat-soled boots. Her nose wrinkles up, cheeks flushed pink from the nipping cold. Black hair pulled back into a single long braid that hangs over her right shoulder.

Her eyes fall on Alex briefly as he shouts at various people that get too close to his heater and just smirks.

[Wendy Berber] *Wendy's more or less at the end of the line. She'd been delivering a book and decided to see what all the fuss was about. And what a fuss to be about!!! A phone call to her mate and a rushed conversation about how to make hamburger helper .. "just.. . r-read the p-package!!" and the skinny nerd is waiting in line patiently. Anything was better than being in a house with four garou, on a full moon, when half of which were mourning. She bounces nervously on her heels, old taped together glasses back on her face. New ones long since destroyed by the damn wyrm and his jerk minions*

[Gamer Extraoridarine] The clocked seem to tick down, a digital clock shining in the window. A beacon to the poindexters, geeks, dorks, nerds and all around gamers. The days counter gone, the hour counter down to zero. Only minutes, seconds and nanoseconds left before the big event.

But at the very moment that 10 minutes was left on the clock, the doors opened. A larger than should be human man standing at the door, a tag wrapped about his forearm that read "Security" stood there, ushered out by a pair of smaller gentlemen. The pair also had the same tag around their forearms. However each one seemed to be holding something.

One a wand that looked like it was metal detector, the other seeming to hold something that looked like a chemical sniffer. It seemed that this place was up to date in the latest in security as well.

How competitive has the gaming world really gotten?

But none the less the pair started moving up the line, stopping at each person with the devices. Some just scanned over. Some pulled from the line and told to go home, no explanation. Some seemed to actually have weapons which were confiscated, but left in line.

When the pair first get to Danicka, they look at their equipment, then onward down the line. Stopping at Alex next. Running the scans over him. The elder man with the metal detector's voice came out, deep and powerful.

"You, front of the line. Gerald will escort you in."

They moved on, not waiting for a response, ignoring the groans and cries of some of the others. Just continuing down the line. Stopping here and there again, calling out more people.

Moira was passed over it seemed.

However when they got to Wendy, the pair only seemed to look at each other after getting their readings, one almost smiled.

"You may enter miss."

And back down the line they went. Looking over a handful more. Moira now taking to the front. Danicka as well.

The rest were told to go home.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] The guard seemed to stop, his eyes covered in glasses, looked out at the departing crowd. One in particular called back.

Ash.

"You, son. Come here."

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] "Fuckin' awesome!" Alexander switches the PSP off, bounds to his feet, and starts gathering up his things to go to the front of the line, pausing to cup his ear at the groaners and grumblers in an exaggerated listening gesture.

"Music to my ears, nubs," he snarks, and then picks his chair and umbrella up and cuts up front, where he joins ... huh. Two other kin, plus two people he didn't know.

"Guess we really are genetically blessed," he says to Danicka and Wendy, shifting his umbrella to his left hand so he can wrap his right arm around the latter and give her a big, crushing sidehug. Plus a bigger, smacking kiss on the cheek. "Peach! It's been so long."

[Danicka Musil] The blonde with the white scarf tucked under her black revere coat leaves her chair and her blanket to someone else in line as though the loss of the items means less to her than the inconvenience of having to take them with her. She lifts an eyebrow at Alex as he mauls Wendy, one corner of her mouth pulling out in a smirk.

"Some of us more than others."

[Ash Wickham] Ash is just turning to leave when someone calls him back. He almost doesn't turn. It's been quite some time since anyone called him 'son,' with the exception of his own parents, of course. He turns to find he's the one being backoned back toward the front of the line.

To the pretty blonde girl he met in a cafe a few days ago. He doesn't say hello, or make his presence known, because he gets distracted by the short man hugging the tall stick of a girl. Ash's brows rise.

"And some just think they're blessed, when really they've been swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool."

[Wendy Berber] GET OFF ME! *Yells a scooped beanpole of a kin, shoving hard at the pitbull of a kinsman's chest. She'd be more concerned about kin being singled outagain if she were paying attention to anything but Alexander Vaughn and his energy drink scented breath. Her glasses go crooked as she tries hard to stomp his instep.* GAH!

[Moira Murray] The competitors chosen, Moira passed over the first time, but then as the two Security men swept back up the line, they stopped to pull her out and to escort her up to the front along with the rest of the group that had been chosen. Her gut would begin to twist in pain, making her grimace slightly. Something wasn’t right… it never was.

She begins to frown, starting at the two men. The way they move, the uniforms, which are slightly off, but the same. They are like twins. Boring. Plain.

Wendy’s shout draws her attention as she comes up to the front. The only person she will recognize just as the realization starts to settle in the back of her mind. As she moves up the line, her brain goes into overdrive. Her gut told her that this was a very, very, very BAD idea. These guys had all the signs of messed up pairing. She should know this quite well.

As she continued to walk, her synapse would spark and fizzle. Trying to recall everything that was wrong about this. Who could this be? They were not wyrm. Nothing about them was wyrm at all. They did not seem to be choatic. Far from it. They were not brutal, they seemed effective. They were not jumbled. They were ordered.

They were efficient.

They were perfect.

They were....

[Danicka Musil] She looks up as the guard shoves Alex away from Wendy and exhales, one hand over her heart as though it's pounding in her chest. "Oh, thank god. I thought he was really going to hurt her."

[Gamer Extraoridarine] Alex would have his arms draped around the woman for no more than 2 seconds after Wendy screams out. A strong, sturdy hand coming down on his pack, forcing him almost to the ground, several yards from the pair of women.

"She informed you no. Please comply with her wishes. Thank you."

Monotone and even. Eyes seeming to lack any fear of the beast.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] Alexander lets Wendy go, all right, but not because she shoved at him. Or tried, rather feebly, to stop his instep. He lets her go because another male enters his perceived territory, and feral, vicious little thing that he is, he instantly turns on him.

"What was that, bitch?" Alexander's aggressive by nature. Alex is worse hopped up on energy drinks and no sleep. He's just starting to head over to settle this little dispute when

the big guy, the guy that looked about the size of godzilla, gives him a shove so hard he goes sprawling, umbrella and chair skidding aside, PSP falling out of his pocket and banging on the concrete.

"FUCK!" He bounces back to his feet like a pro, dusting his ass off. "Fuck is your problem, man? I was saying hi to my friend."

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] " 'Please comply'?" Alexander mocks, glancing away for a second to pick his PSP up. "What the fuck is this, the borg collective? You better not have broken my fucking PSP." The device chimes in his hands as it turns on -- a little scratched on the back, not much worse for the wear. Alex settles down a little. "Fucker," he spits, and then manages to rein in. He still wants in, after all. He's been waiting all night.

[Moira Murray] “Wendy.”

Moira’s voice is calls out to the scrawny twig of a girl with taped up glasses. Her features pulled into a deep frown at this point, as they start to push on Alex to leave the girls alone.

“Borg collective affirmative,” she says dryly to him, “They’re here to assimilate the lot of us, I have a rather bad feeling about this.”

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] (need to run down and pick up my food, folks. bbia little bit!)

[Danicka Musil] Slender arms crossed over her rather unimpressive chest, Danicka looks over at Moira as though just now noticing her. She knows Wendy, though, which the blonde picks up on but does not say anything about. She adjusts her bag on her shoulder. "What sort of a bad feeling?"

[Wendy Berber] *If Wendy didn't know how foolish it was to be smug to anyone in the nation.. She would be smug now. Grinning a great big smug smirk . But alas, Wendy Berber is smarter than she is sassy, and so she contents herself with scowling and crossing her arms. Though Alex mentions the Borg and the stir-stick of a kin tenses, narrowing her eyes and looking a little more closely at who was selected "at random". Moira speaks and confirms her suspicion. Blue eyes get wide as she backs away from the door.*

Ok.. W-we need to go then. This is just like the other one. The one.. with Tag.. Danicka?

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] "Go?" Alex is utterly incredulous. "Fuck you, Sticklegs, I waited all night and day for this shit."

[Ash Wickham] What was that, bitch?

Ash doesn't get a chance to reply, or even ready himself for the impending assault. The guard comes over and shoves the small muscular man aside. Alex's personal belongings scatter, clattering across the pavement. And miraculously the PSP survives the fall, which surprises the older man. Nobody made their systems durable like Nintendo.

A dark haired woman says that yes, this is a Borg Collective. She has a bad feeling about this. Ash cranes his neck to see inside. Some of them have been waiting all night to get into this place.

"Yeah. Is it Spidey Sense bad feeling? Or just a general feeling of unease being around the unwashed youth of America?"

[Moira Murray] "You know that scene in horror movies when the Slasher is right behind the door ready to snack the pretty Blond heroine. You just have this bad feeling that he might get her right then and there and scream at the screen for her to not open the door? THAT kind of a bad feeling..."

She raises a hand at the guards. "They are too perfect, too effeficent. Like droids in a bad science fiction movie."

[Gamer Extraoridarine] The gathering starts to disperse except for those that are ushered inside. Ash seemed to be moving to the large guard, who after pushing Alex all but forgets his existence. His eyes turning to look on the guy, touching an ear piece for a moment before speaking again. Monotone as before.

"You... you are acceptable. I am sorry for the mistake. Please enter."

If he still wished to do so.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And those chosen are ushered inside now. The gathering seemed to total eight now as the guard seems to press the smaller crowd forward into the doors. The larger than life man looking to guide them into the store, should anyone wish to resist. The first of the pair seemed to just nod, ensuring them it is safe.

"Please, go inside. It is cold out here. And the games will begin soon."

(Voice of reason activated. WP roll against difficulty 7. Alex/ Wendy +1 diff)

[Moira Murray] (snack=snag)

[Danicka Musil] She is not a member of the Nation... at least, not a fullblooded member of it. And amongst Shadow Lords, if you are not a Trueborn, you are less than second-class. You are a possession and you are a tool and you are to be happy like that. Danicka does not know so much as a snippet of the story about Wendy and John being stuck in Weaver-tanks. She quirks a brow at Wendy, her arms still crossed.

"As I recall, I lost that game, and they gave me the system and I went home." She seems not just utterly unconvinced that something is up, but even more certain now that everything is fine. Danicka leaves it at that, just shaking her head at Moira mentioning "the pretty blonde heroine" in a horror movie. She dismisses the brunette's bad feeling, a decision she may later come to regret -- or forget making entirely -- and walks inside, pulling off her gloves and unwinding her scarf, tucking both away in her bag.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] Should any of them seem to turn around. They would seem to be staring straight into the chest of the burly guard that was probably thicker than a redwood and potential just as damn resistant as the petrified forest.

His arms crossed over his chest as he looks down at each and everyone one of them. His eyes glaring now. His voice still monotone.

"I suggest you continue moving along. This is very important that you are not late. I MUST make sure of it."

[Ash Wickham] The guard apologizes to Ash for some kind of confusion. Ash's brows come together and he shakes his head. He has no idea what criteria this little group has been matched against that has allowed them to come inside. He wonders, briefly, if they're all kin, or if this is just a coincidence that they've all be brought together tonight.

They're assured that this is safe. Danicka says something about getting a game system and going home. Ash frowns, but wanders in with everyone else, looking around once they're past the door.

The games were going to be starting soon, and it's important that they not be late. Ash allows himself to be ushered forward, to whatever fate has in store.

[Wendy Berber] But.. I didn't get to go home.

*Wendy says a little snappishly to the shadowlord kin, as Danicka moves inside anyway. Her shoulders slump as she tries turning back, only to get pushed through the door regardless by a huge man's broad chest. *

Hey!

*The man who's looming even over Wendy fixes her with a glare and she quails, fingers going tight on her book satchel. A hard swallow as her way out is barred. Mind racing as she reluctantly goes where she's ushered.*

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] There's utterly no need to reason with Alex, or intimidate him, or ... any of the above, really. Alexander files toward the door readily. Eagerly. "Yeah yeah," he brushes off the guard's suggestions, "just hurry up and let me in. There are headshots waiting to happen."

[Moira Murray] “Fuck me…

Moira is starting to mutter under her breath. She stares back at the Security guard, eyes slowly widening as she takes a few steps back, heading in the only direction she can go, which is after the others.

They assure them it is safe. She knows better… and turns around as she is ushered through, her hands stuffing the DS into a coat pocket and trying to find her iphone.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] Once inside the doors behind them will be closed, the large guard seeming to have the only key on hand as he sets it into place and locks it. But it seems that their attention would be drawn away from the door and onward.

If any would look to use their phones it would seem that the signal was scrambled. Maybe it was the fact that there were just so many electronics around the store, for the old commadore to the newest Alienware. Toys and lights and everything, that there must have been some electronic interference.

However as they are guided passed some of the X-box 360 games and comic collections. The gathering ushered into what looked like a set-up of different cubicles. Each one connected to a unified server. A workstation, or major gaming hub. And a voice coming across the line.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the American Pro-Am gaming series. This will test Chicago's best. And only one will stand up and be counted as the best."

The voice coming across the amps seemed to be electrified with excitement. Amping up the competitors.

"The winner will get a shot at the American team. Not to mention a personally designed and autographed X-Box 360, designed by Bill Gates himself. One of only 250 in the world. But don't worry my friends, we do have parting prizes for those who just can't hack it. Now each one of you will be randomly chosen to face the other. Only the survivors will move on."

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] Alexander may as well be totally oblivious to the other kin's anxiety. He claps his hands over his head, twice, loudly, and lets out a whoop. "Yeah! Bring it!"

[Wendy Berber] *Wendy'd gone for her cell only to find out it was scrambled. Not good. She's pale, looking back to the exit an plucking at her sweater in worry. It is abundantly clear that Wendy Berber does not want to be here anymore. She bites at a fingertip and peers around. This time around she was trying her hardest to lose. Onesong or not.*

S'isn't right guys.

[Moira Murray] Moira’s head turns from left to right, looking up and all around as her eyes skim over the various gaming systems and comic collections. She breathes in deeply, letting her breath roll out in a sigh. Her iphone retrieved, she wrinkles up her nose again noticing there is no signal. The phone is returned to its place in her pocket, tucking her hands into her pockets and keeps them there as she overhears the announcement made.

Alexander’s exuberance does very little to comfort her agitated nerves. “I wonder what parting gifts the losers get.”

[Ash Wickham] Ash wanders in with the rest of them, but tends to stay near the girl with the bad feeling. Not out of a desire to protect her, or even find out more about this bad feeling. That's just where he happened to end up.

The little bundle of attitude up ahead is all excited and rarin' to go. Ash is pretty rusty with video games. He's not up on the latest generation consoles. He rubs his hands on his thighs, and waits to find out who he's going to 'randomly' be assigned to play against.

[Danicka Musil] Danicka's iPhone is in her coat pocket, but she isn't reaching in to take it out and call anyone, or check anything. She unbuttons said coat, revealing a v-necked gray sweater with pink and navy argyle across the chest underneath, and she's fighting a smile as they head in. She has no commentary, excited or otherwise.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] Each one is directed to a specific seat, either by direct or by initimadation. It didn't matter to the guard as it seemed that he was able to force them into their seats.
The computer system is set up for a PvP, one on one. The line up didn't matter to them.

However the keys seemed to be normal, the computers normal, the chairs normal. Everything about this is normal. This may just be a test run for the Weaver, as Moira and Wendy would feel it out. This might actually a test for future attempts.

Probably not.

[Danicka Musil] She shrugs out of her coat, letting it drape over the back of her seat, and puts her bag on the floor between her feet. Her can of Red Bull was slammed, finished, and tossed into a recycling bin on the way inside. She rubs her hands as though putting on lotion, warming them, and looks across the way at the man with the hazel eyes who thought she was a Fang, now thinks she's a Fenrir.

She does not fistbump him but reaches over and lays her hand on top of his fist, like paper covering rock. "No hard feelings," she assures him with a gentle smile, and withdraws her hand to focus on the game.

[Ash Wickham] There's no need to usher or force Ash to take a seat across from the dark-haired young woman. He removes his blazer and hangs it over the back of his seat and eases into the chair. The polo conforms to a somewhat muscular upper body gone slightly soft.

Ash shoots the girl a dashing grin. "Try to go easy on me, okay, kiddo? This isn't Duck Hunt."

And he sets in to the game.

They will find that as they continue to play onward, the games will get harder to follow. Not because of lag or because of multiple players. But because as they touch the keyboard, as they play the game they will slowly start to feel what is happening to their avatars.

It is not recognizable like the Wyrm is with such wounds. This is more subtle. Harder to track. Nanomachines working in conjunction with the OneSong. And before they are able to feel it, it will be too late. They would be out cold.

However that was to come in time. Only Wendy did not seem to be playing along. But she will be put down soon, if she does not step up to the plate.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] It's an FPS. Alex loves FPSes. He's not as good as he thinks he is -- this is the truth for many, many things -- but he's not usually this bad. Maybe he's just rattled by shot in the back the pretty blonde across the way just dealt him. The one that looks like she spends her time shopping designer boutiques on the Mile. The one he was so sure would stand there confused while he ran circles around her and, as he said, pwned her into the dust.

When his shot goes wide, Danicka can hear the stocky, aggressive Glass Walker kinsman grunt in annoyance behind his monitor. He lifts a hand and wipes the side of his face, shakes his head once, and then reaches for his energy drink.

"Fuckin' hell... shoulda taken a nap."

[Wendy Berber] *Wendy sits warily at her computer, looking more than a little crestfallen. Well, at least she wasn't going back to Onesong. It would have been terrible and amazing all the same time, and she would have been so infuriatingly happy, and Boy would never have forgive her, ever. This was like offering to mainline a former drug addict straight heroin, then taking it away. She bites her lip and cracks spindly fingers. Settling in to play with a deep breath.*

[Gamer Extraoridarine] The battle continues onward. It seems that Ash has taken a commanding lead over Moira now. Maybe his time playing duck hunt seemed to morph him into the terminator. Moira would start to feel sluggish with each frag Ash throws down.

Speaking of frags. It seems that stacy had fallen on her own grenande and a line of curses explodes from her mouth as she complains the keyboard is stuck. Some people can not take losses well.

Alex was not doing much better it seemed as Danicka apparently was far superior than her counterpart. Maybe the Glasswalker needed to get back into the cyberworld and work out some of his issues. Cause being beaten by a girl would hurt any guys pride.

Spike seemed to have waken up from his slumber as well as Wendy, each going back at their opponents with fury. Spike however showed why he was a damn good player, Wendy seemingly not working over Stacy as well as she did herself.

And Moira... Get may do better in real life, but damn if they knew how to inflict pain. She was not down yet, not by a long shot.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] "SHIT!" explodes from the other side of the monitor as he misses. Then Danicka's sneaking up behind him to pepper him. Alex's screen flashes red. "FUCK! STOP!"

Alexander pounds his energy drink, leans forward, gets serious. Next to him, some guy he doesn't recognize suddenly just... faceplants his keyboard. Alex casts him a single, short, irritated, and hollers without taking his eyes from the screen, "Hey, can we get some help here? This n00b just passed out. Can we get serious here? Huh? Why the hell are we letting in fuckfaces that can't even stay awake twenty-four hours?"

Gaming is Srs Bizness.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] The game continues onward still. The battle raging in the fiber optics seem to continue without pause. Ash having Moira on the edge of being knocked off her server and knocked out. But Get do not fall so easily.

Alex and Danicka seem to be trading blows, but neither seem to be able to knock the other out. Not this time. They are going to continue to go at it. Wendy and Stacy are starting to get into the swing of it now. actually trading off some damage.

And Spike. Apparently he was a master of a game that has yet to come out. He has pwn'd John with authority. Knocking John off their shared server and, out no less. It seemed that the nanites are pleased and actually recoil from Spike, pulling away some damage. Until he has an opponent, he will not feel their bite.

John on the other hand does down, face first into his keyboard. Out cold.

And Moira offers up some good old fashioned Fernir revenge, knocking Ash down slightly even as her own eyelashes are hard to keep open. And as Alex calls for help, someone comes over, checking him out a few moments before taking him away.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] There's a wordless yell of triumph when he finally lands a hit on the goddamn blonde's avatar. It's quickly followed by a grunt of annoyance as she returns the favor. "Hey," Alexander's got a mouth on him all right, "can I get some hydration over here? I'm getting a fucking caffeine headache."

[Danicka Musil] "Jesus Christ, would you shut up?" Danicka says, with evident and breathy exasperation as Alex explodes with frustration at the damage he keeps taking, as he rails against the guy who just flopped over his keyboard. They go another round, and Danicka doesn't even seem to feel it. It will be a long time before the niggling sensation of something being wrong gets to her, before it chips away at the strength of a talen she slapped on weeks ago.

"Biiitch, bitch, bitch bitch bitch," she intones, lovetapping Alex's avatar again while he yells for water.

[Ash Wickham] "Real men don't blame their failures on things like dehydration, shallow pool!" comes from the station where Ash is starting to get frustrated. [Gamer Extraoridarine] The battle seemed to continue onward, pushing the gamers to the next level. Or maybe they were dragging each other down. Ash couldn't quite finish off Moira, giving her another chance at survival.

Alex and Danicka not only seem to exchange love-taps, but also complaints as the others call out. It seems the stress was getting to them as they were going over and over the same game. Only Spike seemed calm, waiting as the games went on. Recouping as the rest struggled.

Moira was working her way back into this fight. Fragging Ash with passion now. The Get never say die.

And Alex... actually gets his drink, amazing really.

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] "Hey shut the fuck up," Alexander fires back, clearly aggravated now. "Was anyone talking to you? No. Shut up." His drink gets delivered up. Nice, cool water. He grabs the bottle, twists it open, guzzles half of it while he's hunkered down behind some cover. He can see Danicka's avatar in the distance, closing in, methodically hunting through every potential hideyhole.

[Ash Wickham] Ash lets out a whoop of delight, tries to lift his arms up over his head but it's hard. He didn't realize he'd gotten so sluggish, so tired, so sore. He flashes the pretty young thing on the other side of the console a charming, enthusiastic and crooked smile. "Hey, no hard feelings. Good game and all that." It seems to be lacking in sincerity. It's a wonderful feeling to win, after all.

[Danicka Musil] "My god, it's like the thing that wouldn't shut up," she mutters idly. She's hardly aggravated at this point. She doesn't have Alex's temper, she doesn't have Alex's growing pain, she doesn't have fifty grams of caffeine in her system. She seems to understand the gaming system intuitively, learns the maps as though guided by some sixth sense, and yet her reaction time and the Glass Walker's are evenly matched enough at this point that it seems to come down to luck whether or not one or the other can do more than irritate the other.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] Ash seems to be able to finally finish off his prey and Moira seems to be fra too tired to actually give congrats to her victor. She too is examined by the staff and taken off. She will be duly cared for.

However the game continues onward and yet again Alex and Danicka cannot finish each other off. Just tossing back and forth worthless insults. The pair are far too evenly matched it seemed.

Stacy and wendy are back at it as well. Stacy finally getting back on track and taking on Wendy, inflicting some damage now. Wendy in turn is back at stacy, taking her down just a bit.

And then, while Ash in the middle of his little cheer. It seems the server switches over. And low and behold Spike is dumped right in front of him. But unlike Ash, Spike was ready to fight. And...

BOOM

Ash is out cold. Spike getting another kill.

[Danicka Musil] Danicka can't help but notice, now, that two more people have fallen, slumped. The dark-haired girl that had a bad feeling about this, then the man who took her out in the game. It's just a quick flick of her eyes at the damage board to see who is killing who, and her brows pull together. She glances past the monitor at Alex --

[Wendy Berber] *Wendy is not as absorbed as the others. People are faceplanting all over the place. [Gamer Extraoridarine] Alex goes back to the gaming with little wait. His scope seeming to finally getting back at Danicka, getting a hit that seems to soak up the last of her little gift from Lukas. The bloody bandage no longer a viable aid. And her return fire... hits some rocks.

And another one goes down, just as Ash is taken off. Stacy is out cold now as Wendy gets up to start complaining about this whole situation. And thats when the screen goes from Stacy to the new player. Spike did not seem to play this game for fun. He only grunted when he trained his gun on Wendy. Taking a shot even as she was not at the computer.

Stacy was the next pulled from the room, now.

Danicka seemed to be off to the races with the game now, taking on the best and knocking them down. But Spike was working over Wendy as she was no longer focused on the game at all. She was now focused solely on getting into the system as it were.

[Wendy Berber] *Things were becoming clearer. She had their system figured out. Now it was just a matter of messing enough up that the system crashed. It wasn't like she hacked things for a living or anything, but she was knee deep in system code day in and day out. If she could build it, surely she could take it down. *

[Alexander Madoc Vaughn] Alex doesn't answer Danicka. He went rather quiet after that last round, and after he steps on his own damn grenade the kinsman actually ... leans over and vomits on the floor, suddenly.

Someone drank too many energy drinks.

A moment after that Danicka finally lands that headshot she was waiting for, and Alexander faceplants the keyboard.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] (Recap)

The stage was now set. It was between Spike and Danicka now. Both of them fully healed, fully ready for the fight to come. The system now reboot to accommidate their new action. However the pairs around them are pulled from the room, left out of the final match.

But just before Wendy is knocked out cold, she sees it. Within the code. The OneSong. It is a pity she wont remember.

(Danicka your up)

[Danicka Musil] She's already decided something is wrong here. Danicka takes a break after Alex vomits, passes out, and is taken away. She leans back in her chair and watches as Wendy is taken down, too, the last traces of her brief headache gone. She remembers what Wendy said as they came in, talking about Harvester: she wasn't allowed to leave.

The Shadow Lord levels a thoughtful green gaze on 'Spike' as they sit across from each other, and then turns her attention fully to the LCD screen in front of her.

[Gamer Extraoridarine] And with that Spike is put out, his body crashing against the computer keyboard as Danicka can feel herself come down with the weakness of almost no sleep for the last 28 hours. The gaming was done.

Danicka was victorious over the field. Even if she only had 2 kills of the 7. Those two kills were the most important ones. The kills that ended the contest. And as spike is taken off, a new figure comes out from behind the servers. A tall young man, with dirty blond hair and a smile that would melt ice in the arctic. Within his hands is a plastic case, through which Danicka can see the signed limited edition system.

"Congrats on your victory. You are truly a one of a kind gamer. We have one more satellete to run, but I am sure none will exhibit the greatness you have shown."

He smiles again, his teeth whiter than white, his smile broad.

"Here is my card, if you need anything please call me. We shall make sure you are ready for the pros' in no time. Now my collegues will take down your info and I assure you we will be in contact within the week. And we have other special prizes for you."

A case is also presented to her, a whole set of games some yet even to be released, gift cards for WoW accounts. Logitech controllers. A gamers orgasm if they didn't have the means.

[Danicka Musil] Surprisingly, she's not all that tired. She feels, in fact, rather fantastic. Danicka has a throbbing headache, but she just won. She rolls her head on her neck, shrugs her shoulders back, stretches, and gets up, gathering her bag and her coat as she's approached with yet another shiny new console. She smiles brightly, says "Well, I don't know about that," when he tells her about her 'greatness'.

Shifting her bag's strap to her shoulder, Danicka takes the console with some difficulty. She's not a particularly strong woman, and it's a long walk to the station. Ah, well. She takes the man's card between two spare fingers, lifting her eyebrows slightly as she's presented with a hoard of gifts that... well. She could buy for herself, though she might not think to. But now she doesn't have to.

Danicka laughs on her way out. It doesn't make the headache go away.

[struggle] [Ground Rules:

1. IC posts: 10 minutes or less. Declares and rolls: 3 minutes or less unless you are waiting on me to answer a question. I'll be more lenient on this tonight, but if it's holding up the scene I'll start imposing auto-fails.
2. Speaking of questions: ask me in the chat. Do not IM me. If I don't answer immediately, just keep yelling my name. If you absolutely cannot wait, send me a PM.
3. There is no posting order, but post once for every post I make unless I tell you otherwise.
4. PM me now if you have any Uncrossable Lines and/or Exploitable Flaws.
5. Keep track of your own health and tempers.
6. Your characters are somewhere in Bronzeville, on a street with the usual dive bars, barely-making-ends-meet cafes, pawn shops, and fast food places.

[Alexander] (Overconfident, Intolerance: being made to feel inferior/slighted)
to struggle

[Wendy Berber] *The church street hauntings were pretty legendary in Chicago's occult circles. Coming up on Halloween it seemed like she was getting more and more questions at the bookstore about books on the topic, but very few of the sources she'd found were very comprehensive. It was to that end Wendy Berber sparked on an idea. And so here she was, having lost track of time while in discussion with an older resident of bronzeville who apparently was involved in the first indecent of poltergeist activity at 1408 Church street. Spindly legs carry her down the sidewalk, wrapped tight in an old tweed coat. Woolen collar scratchy against her face as she reviews the notes she'd made, book satchel clunking at her skinny hip.*

[Drew Roscoe] Drew should have learned her lesson about coming to Bronzeville by now. One night she's getting leered at prospectively by a small herd of men on a corner, saved only by the grace of the fact that she stumbled on in to Joe and Thomas's territory. Another night, her truck breaks down and she has to wait in the cab with the doors locked for a tow truck. Hell, just two nights ago she was tranquilized by a Bad Guy and Joe nearly di died, only to come back to life hobbling around like some determined beast from hell. Were Joe not there...? Well, she didn't want to think about where she would be right now.

And yet!

And yet Drew Roscoe is meandering up the street in a somewhat more populated part of Bronzeville than where Joe's territory lies, where there are people, bars and McDonald's chains lining the street. It felt dusty here, despite the drizzle of rain, and all the glowing neon signs hanging in window fronts seemed dimmed compared to how they would be in Chinatown or along the Mile.

She's dressed in her work clothes, a pair of black slacks, a dark crimson dress blouse that was untucked so the tails fell out over the waistband of her pants, with an emerald vest buttoned snugly overtop. She had a wad of black fabric curled in her left fist and tucked against her hip, and her flat-bottomed non-slip work shoes thudded a mute rhythm on the sidewalk as she walked. She was holding her cellphone in front of her, eyes down on the screen, not paying as much mind to where she was going as she should.

Text messages were getting everyone killed these days.

[Alexander] Alexander is coming out of a greasy spoon named Sloppy Jo's, which is not-so-coincidentally across the way from an adult bookstore named Sloppy Blo's. There are copyright-infringement/defamation lawsuits in litigation between the two parties. The Glass Walker kinsman, wiping his mouth on a napkin that he balls up and tosses in the gutter, doesn't really give a damn. He looks both ways. He crosses the street toward the porn shop.

[Maija] Near said porn shop, there's a corner store, and it's from here that Maija steps to the street. A single bag in hand, and the other is occupied in pulling the hood of her sweatshirt up over her hair, tugged low to cover her face more from habit than anything else. Her stay in Chicago has been without her past finding her, and she relaxes, slowly, just a little bit more with each passing week.

Never fully relaxed, of course, as that would be stupid. Especially in Bronzeville. A glance along the street, and she turns toward a path that will eventually lead her home - and also leads her right past that porn shop.

[struggle] Chicago is one of the most haunted cities in America, or so it's said. Supposedly even Harpo Studios is haunted, but Oprah won't answer questions about it. One could make a rather logical leap to say that the people of Chicago are, themselves, also some of the most haunted in the continental United States.

Both of these statements are, of course, completely ignoring Louisiana and its citizens. When you get right down to brass tacks, they know a thing or two about being haunted.

This street is not known for being haunted. It's not known for anything. The people here are forgetful because they can't be bothered to be otherwise, not when they have to face trauma on a nightly basis -- or at least it seems like a nightly basis. There's Fenrir staking territory around here, but they're outside of those borders right now. There's plenty of things to do along this strip of street, but not a whole lot of people filling those places. They're poor, they're tired, and it's goddamn cold out tonight. Wet. Nasty.

Kind of like the shit Alex is looking for at Sloppy Blo's, at least in two out of three categories. But we digress.

Wendy and Drew have several yards to go before they run into each other. Alex and Maija, less. But it's not Alex or Maija or Wendy, kin to citified Garou, that get stopped by the woman in the red naugahyde jacket sitting on a bus stop bench. She could've been pretty, once. Her hair is damp and bedraggled, dyed pink and red in places, and she's shivering constantly.

"Miss," she says, without the rising, questioning inflection so many people append to every word out of their mouths these days. "Miss," she says again, whether Drew turns around or not. "Hey, hey Miss."

[Drew Roscoe] Cell phones are some of the rudest items on the planet, if you ask Drew and most people older than fifty years. People were too invested in their own lives and the conversations transpiring over the little hand-held communication devices that they blatantly ignored those around them. Workers in retail were downright ignored, offered no thanks or farewells or smiles, just shoved money and then walked away from. Comments were ignored, questions or otherwise from strangers on the street. Even when texting, people would pretend to be so caught up in what they were doing that comments like 'miss, hey miss' were bypassed entirely.

Drew, however, wasn't one of those types of people. Someone was calling for her attention, so she paused, looked up from her phone, then over her shoulder to the woman with bits of pink and red streaked throughout her hair. Drew blinked once, then closed the phone and tucked it into the hip pocket of her slacks.

"Yeah?," she asked simply, turning to face the woman entirely. Probably asking for some spare change, but it wasn't nice to assume and ignore.

[Wendy Berber] *Someone speaks up ahead of her, and Wendy Berber looks up from her notes, flipping the cover closed and struggling to tuck the notepad into her satchel while looking towards the source. Owlish eyes blink, magnified by coke bottle spectacles as she recognizes Drew with a pang of regret. Last time she'd seen the kin-girl, Drew had shaken off the GW kin's attempts at sympathy and charged out of the woods in tears. Some woman with bright hair was soliciting Drew's attention, likely looking for a hand out. Wendy's long legs eat up less and less distance as she approaches, nerd clearing her throat and raising a hand in shy Hello, to be ignored or acknowledged as Drew saw fit.*

[Maija] She's not unaware of her surroundings. In fact, most times she's almost hyper aware, and it's not always the good thing that one might think. For now, though, this awareness brings Alex into her line of sight, and farther down, the instantly recognizable figure of Wendy - someone she might even call a friend.

She tucks her free hand into the 'roo pocket of her Hoodie, glances at the shop that Alex is headed toward, and then backdown the street. His vices are none of her business.

She doesn't recognize Drew until she turns to talk to some red n pink haired lady, and there's a slight tightening at the corner of her lips, a brief flash of something in her eyes, a tightening of the muscle along her jaw. Then it's gone, as fast as it arrived.

[struggle] Alex goes into the porn shop without so much as a glance at the three women who share his sometimes unfortunate relationship to the Garou. The woman talking to Drew actually gets off the bench and walks closer, perhaps three or four paces, ignoring Wendy and Maija as well, even when the stork-legged one clears her throat.

"Hey..." she says, softer, as though in an attempt to be cajoling, "hey... you maybe... you maybe wanna..."

She reaches into her pocket, digging out a large roll of cash, each bill neatly pressed and tightly bound by a rubber band.

"I'll give you three hundred dollars if you show me your pussy," she says, hazel eyes bloodshot. She blinks several times, and takes another couple of steps forward.

[Drew Roscoe] Wendy came over, and Drew glanced to the woman, looked at her for a few seconds to try and recall why the girl was familiar, then placed the face and build. The girl that had been knocked out cold when they'd both been attacked by the men determined to abduct/kill/godknowswhat in the park perhaps a month ago. And she'd been at the Bonfire, but she barely recalled that detail. Irrelevant, too, the bonfire was pretty much put behind her. All it did was confirm that she was One of Them or One of Her.

The woman stands up and walks forward, but Drew doesn't recoil. She just keeps her eyes on the lady, chin tipping up little by little the closer she gets so that she can keep looking into her face. The large wad of cash comes out, as does the illicit offer.

More than anything, Drew looked caught off-guard, but hardly offended. She blinked her surprise out with a few bats of mascara-lengthened lashes, and then burst out with laughter, the sound loud, surprised, and pleasant to hear.

"Hahahahah! Oh, man. No... That's funny, but no."

[Wendy Berber] *A further glance about her surroundings gets Maija a nervouse nod of her head, and a shy smile, before Wendy's whip thin frame twitches like she's been exposed to a low grade electric charge. What?! What did that woman just ask? Her mouth falls open and snaps shut as Drew starts laughing.*

Wh-whoa.

[Wendy Berber]

[Wendy Berber] {damn tag}

[Maija] There's a brief smile for Wendy - considerably more than most folks get from her, just before Drew's laughter, and Wendy's shock registers. She doesn't quicken her steps, she'll get there soon enough. Slow and steady wins the race, as they say.

Her hand is wrapped around something in her pocket, through habit more than anything else. Fingers tighten around the straps of her canvas grocery bag, than relax again. Just another night in the neighborhood, right?

[crow] ((Anybody mind if I watch?))

[struggle] "Hey," snaps the woman at Wendy, whipping her head around. She sounds and looks displeased, but only comes out with: "Hey."

She looks at Drew once more, pocketing the cash, and keeping her hand in there. She cocks her head to the side. "Hey. That was like...rude, y'know? Laughing like that? You're supposed to be scared. Fuck. I fucking hate the ones like you. You don't even know what you're up against, y'know?"

She looks exasperated, like she genuinely wants Drew's agreement. "I mean... y'know?"

Then, shrill: "JEFFY. JEFFY C'MERE SHE DIDN'T TAKE IT."

A tall, broad, barrel-chested man with long blonde dreadlocks peeks out from a nearby alleyway. His mouth is agape, his eyes wide and paranoid, his fly undone. "Wha?" He spots Drew, then. And runs towards her. The woman takes her hand out of her pocket. This time she's holding a switchblade, the blade approximately five inches long and flicking out with a twist of the junkie's wrist.

[John Thornton] The night was cool, in spite of the fact that the wind had died down to the merest draw of breath interspersed with the faintest of sighs. Overhead, the sky was dark, the thickening moon overshadowed by a thick cloud bank that shone garish colors with the pollution of light from the never slumbering Windy City below.

It was from just such an environment that a man stepped, entering the shopping area, with hopes of finding his errant informant. Mickey was a bad man, who luckily enough, was more afraid of being shanked in prison than he was of his employers. Or perhaps, who was greedy enough to overlook all the little pieces his bosses would cut him into if they discovered he was on the take from the C.P.D.

Hazel eyes scan the night, recognizing persons both familiar and not... Understanding the scene almost instantly.

A hand moves to his left ribs, black trench coat flaring as he increases his pace. As his hand reappears, a wicked looking .45 caliber pistol comes along for the ride. Wordlessly, his left hand claps to the butt of the pistol grip, and he begins taking aim at his targets...

the scuffle across the street draws his attention.

"Holy shit," Alex says. It's not shock, or fear. It's something closer to glee. He sounds a little outraged, too. "You fuckers left me out?"

The bag o' smut hits the ground, spills skin mags all over the sidewalk. The wet, dirty sidewalk. Someone's gonna have to buy him replacements later. Alexander's hands go to his pockets, come up with the sort of cheap, spiked brass knuckles they sell in Chinatown for $3/ea, and he goes tearing across the street to join the fun.

[struggle] There are downsides, perils, shadows to being a purebred kin of heroes. There are unfortunate side effects to being young, and pretty, and charming. Alex is safe from what is being done to Drew: his tribe long ago lost that connection to their ancestors that gives pure breed. Plus, attractive as he might be, fit as he might be, he's an asshole. A violent asshole, at that. Wendy has no trace of breeding in her veins. She's unpleasant to look at for the vast majority of people and Garou, too tall and too thin and too swallowed by her own clothes. She's highly intelligent, learned in several areas, but not exactly the best breeding stock out there. Maija's tribe, too: if they have any breeding left it's buried under years of eating fast food and living in the cities. She, too, is too skinny and too surly to take much notice of.

Drew, though. Ah, Drew. Pretty. Just curvy enough. Strong blood. And now here comes John, just the same. Not hard to look at, good stock, and better yet, of a bloodline that would shudder at being tainted. Which only makes it better.

Knives and guns come out, threats and shrieks are issued, and the stork is the first one to move. She shoots the big man with his fly undone, nicking his arm. He looks down, displeased, only to have a knife tug at his shirt, ripping it. He looks down at Maija in consternation, and then her tiny, hard fist barrels into his jaw, hitting him so hard that he reels back from it. It's comic, like David and Goliath redone with a tiny hoodie-wearing girl and a dreadlocked white man. He responds by pulling out a hammer and hitting Wendy straight in the chest with it, just barely hard enough to make her as dizzy as he is. What a pair they make. What a pair.

And then someone's knife hits home. Trixie thrusts the switchblade into Drew's torso with a terrified yet delighted shriek, and blood rushes out of the darkhaired friend of Fenrir warriors. Drew doubles over, going pale, and sways. She barely remains standing.

Just about then, the Knights In Shining Armor show up. And one of them drops his porn -- he's just that chivalrous -- and puts on his brass knuckles, and takes a flying leap to attack the big man, Jeffy. He slips, falls short, manages not to lose his balance. Since that didn't work out, he tries headbutting the giant...whose head is apparently so hard to Alex's forehead is red from the impact and Jeffy looks no worse than he did before. Maija seems to be the hero, though. She goes after Trixie now, leaving Jeffy to the apparently inept Glass Walker, stabbing the woman in the arm, deep enough to make Trixie flail.

Trixie is not to be dissuaded, however. She cries for help and shoves the knife into Drew again and again, laughing the whole time, bouncing up and down a little. Blood trickles down Drew's legs, down her stomach. She drops her cellphone, her apron. She crumples to the ground. Blood pools, fills the cracks in the sidewalk. Her skin is paling rapidly.

From down the street, a bullet flies towards the knife-wielding woman twice in quick succession. Trixie screams when the bullets hit home, one in her thigh and one in her shoulder. She looks down the street at John and her eyes light up.

"KEEEGAAAN!" she screams. "WE GOT ANOTHER ONE!"

She sounds... happy.

[struggle] They are not alone with two strung out idiots anymore. That really should have been enough to get Drew compliant enough -- wounded enough -- to drag her to the truck. But nooo. Her friends had to help. That must explain why the tall man with the pretty but unpretty face and the long fingers and long hair looks so irritated when he gets out of the pickup truck down the street, kicks the door closed, and levels his shotgun at the miniscule Gnawer that just stabbed Trixie.

He fires, and Maija takes what she gave out, only hers comes with the smell of gunpowder and the pain of impact. After that, very little happens. Maija's knifing arm is weaker now, and she can barely hurt Trixie when she defiantly goes after her again. Trixie drops her knife, pulls out a nine millimeter, and fires on John, to no effect. He's too far for her. Apparently she's now too far for him, or he's too distracted, because they don't manage to hurt each other.

And then John shoots again. And the bullet hits Trixie square in the chest. She crumples, flopping over on top of Drew, who doesn't notice. Drew is unconscious. Her blood is starting to drip into the rain gutter. Not by droplets. By a steady, if thin, stream. Alex isn't even paying attention as he tries to use his brass knuckles to take the hammer from Jeffy, which doesn't work so well. He slices the spikes across Jeffy's wrist, though, then punches him, creating several tiny holes in the big man's jaw. The big man falls, but he's still breathing.

Barely.

Wendy doesn't seem to be paying attention to Drew, either. But then again, no one can right now. There are people with knives and guns coming at them, intent on hurting them. Wendy fires at the man with the shotgun, hits him, and he flinches hard, one shoulder rearing back as blood spurts from it. He snarls something that doesn't quite sound like English, and the truck's door opens again.

Maija goes over to Jeffy and stabs him in the chest. Her knife isn't long enough to reach very far, but it doesn't need to be, as hurt as he is. A second later she and Alex are standing over the prone, enormous form of the moron himself. He is beaten and bloodied and breathless. He, just like his little friend with the nail enamel, just got killed on the street. At least he didn't land on anyone.

Someone is running at them out of the pickup truck, small and lithe. The baggy-clothed figure leaps up and tries to plow an elbow into Alex's face but just collides with him, reeling back several steps in shock. A pulse of hair-raising fury snaps across the air, a feeling that none of them may even recognize with their own adrenaline pumping and hearts pounding. It's also hard to notice under the smell.

Sweet. Fruity. And rotting.

John, having felled Trixie and not knowing what they're facing out of the truck now, turns his firearm on the man with the shotgun instead. Two shots does it. The shot gun falls just as Jeffy's hammer and Trixie's knife and gun did. The Kinfolk have three dead bodies that look entirely human to deal with now. Possibly a fourth, because none of them know yet if Drew is dead or alive at this point.

Alex picks up two weapons. Delightedly. And the latter he puts against the short teenager's chin, only to have the teen twist away. The shot goes skyward instead, quite possibly damaging the teen's ears but nothing else. Hell. Could damage Alex's, too. He'll live. Unfortunately, so will Leslie.

Wendy is the first person to know that Drew is not quite dead. Drew's pulse is weak. Drew's breathing is present but irregular and shallow. She is alive, but barely, and won't be for very long. Left like this her lifespan is measured in minutes, not hours. Wendy pushes past Trixie's limp arm and starts applying pressure, starts pushing Trixie off, and extends those minutes. Buys a few more for Drew. But it won't last. If she takes her hands off of the Fenrir girl, her life will likely be over before this battle over.

Especially when they consider the fact that Leslie over there is looking at Alex with livid, dark eyes, shoulders moving with heaving, furious breaths. Especially when they see the rippling, sickening beginning of a Change right before their eyes. It isn't the rapid snap of an experienced Garou changing shape. It takes a little bit of time. But it won't take long enough. The next sound they hear is a shrieking, undulating roar as the teenager reacts to the loss of the three others by unfurling into a gaunt crinos with oozing green eyes and matted black and tan fur shot through with gray.

[Wendy Berber] [Pick up Drews gun, (no dice for split)]

[John Thornton] The clip falls from the bottom of John's gun as the slide pulls back, the weapon empty and smoking. Hazel eyes narrow as the detective stares down the creature of nightmares before him, his hand moving even as he watches to withdraw the next clip from his belt.

Slamming it home, John draws back the slide, and begins unloading anew on the monstrosity that is Leslie.

A simple cheshire smile resting upon his lips... A pregnant smile... One that all but dripped with unspoken knowledge.

A smile unseen for some time upon the detective's typical deadpan expression.

[struggle] [Combat over! Recap coming!]

[struggle] They are now dealing with a Black Spiral Dancer cub. An angry, ambiguous, fast as hell cub who seems to elude any attempt they make at injury. Alex shoots and the bullet may as well be absorbed. Alex lashes out with the claw end of a hammer and it's shrugged off. And then Leslie unfurls into crinos, bypasses the Walker entirely, and tears into the female that hurt Jeffy so badly, that stabbed Trixie over and over, that is closer than the bastard that killed both Trixie and Keegan.

Maija goes down before she can take Wendy's gun. Her blood mingles with Drew's on the pavement. Her skin begins to pale, just like Drew's. Wendy has two felled acquaintances to tend to now, and she can only focus on one.

And then John spends his last bullets to blow a hole in Leslie's chest. It will regenerate. They all know this. He reaches for another clip and slams it home, fires again...and misses entirely. Maybe he swears. Maybe he just focuses. Maybe he laughs...maybe he just grins. This time when he shoots Leslie, the beast of war hits the asphalt. This time when Alex follows to shoot it again, Leslie's enormous head bounces on the pavement from the impact.

Dark eyes open. Leslie begins to stir, to try and roll over. Slumps again.

Wendy is reaching for Drew's firearm when it happens. Maija and Drew are bleeding. John and Alex are standing at angles, firearms pointed at the body on the ground. They don't share a look. They don't nod or speak. They unload bullets into the crinos, stopping only when it becomes

inevitably

the shape of a mangled, bulletridden teenager again, loose clothes torn, multicolored hair matted with blood, form limp and motionless.

[John Thornton] John for his part just stares at the corpse of Leslie for some time after it's over. The Cheshire smile upon his face dies a slow, almost painful death... His brows furrowing, his mouth becoming a thin line of anger.

With a tight lipped snarl, he speaks while standing over the body...

"Bad dog."

Then, the loud .45 caliber is heard time and again, until the slide draws back again, the chamber open... Every last round expended into the body of Leslie.

It is only then, after all the rounds are gone, that John turns and begins to tend to the fallen. His expression a sober deadpan, untelling... Unfeeling... Numb...

He carries the still smoking pistol to Maija first, and sets it on the ground beside him to cool...

A piece of paper rests near Maija's fallen form; hazel eyes are drawn to it like a compass needle to magnetic North. Taking it in hand, he recognizes it as the card Maija had given Wendy to call...

Wordlessly, he begins doing what he can to stop Maija's bleeding, to stabilize her...

It's only after he's done what he can that he takes a cell phone from his pocket and begins dialing the number on the card.

((Stabilizing Maija

Int + Medicine, diff = 6

Hail Kahseeno))
Dice Rolled:[ 4 d10 ] 2, 7, 7, 8 (Success x 3 at target 6)

[Wendy Berber] MAIJA! *Drew's gun clatters to the ground, and Wendy's crawling the short distance over to Maija, thrashing to get out of her dam coat. Spindly limbs fly this way and that as she stoops her too skinny frame over the gnawer kin, and starts applying pressure to wounds with a whimper.* Maija.. ..

*John hands her a card, takes over and the blood covered glasswalker kin fumbles slippery handed for her phone, leaving John to it only reluctantly as she makes the call.*

Um hello? Maija told me to c-c-call. Um. we n-n--need help? Um.. c-c-c-orner of.. uh.. Garret avenue and um.. Cl-cl-clemenstine.. um.. B-BB-B-bron-bronzeville?

[Alexander] Actually, Alexander doesn't pull the trigger over and over. He shoots twice more after the thing goes down, and when it starts to slip back into its birth form, he stops.

Thornton doesn't. Thornton calls it a bad dog, which makes Alexander's eyes snap to him suddenly, dark and unreadable. Then he just watches as Thornton unloads his clip, flesh bursting open and mangling more with every hit.

When it's over Alex's ears are ringing. Everything sounds distant, muffled, filtered through cotton and fog, the way it does after a long night playing drums for some half-crap band at some half-crap venue or other. His trigger finger aches, though he hadn't pulled it nearly so many times as John had. He's never shot for such a prolonged time before. Alex is a fighter, this is undeniable, but he's not actually much of a killer.

And he's never, ever seen one of them die before. He's heard of it, sure. But he's never seen it happen; never seen that last dreadful shift back to homid.

He doesn't really have a smartassed comment. He just stares at the mangled Dancer ... cub.

A moment later he tosses the gun down. He'll want the shotgun later, but right now, he doesn't want to hold the empty, hot piece of metal anymore. By then John has moved on to staunch Maija's bleeding while Wendy continues to work on Drew. Alexander looks at them for a moment.

Then he says, "We're going to have to do something about all the bodies."

[John Thornton] "Hello... I'm in Bronzeville, in a shopping area at ((please insert appropriate address here)). We ran into trouble; Maija is hurt. She needs medical assistance immediately. Before she went unconscious, she gave me a card with this number on it...

We have two people down, one with knife wounds, the other with more significant lacerations. I also have multiple bodies to deal with.

Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated... Is your expertise medical or cleanup?"

His voice was level, belying the furor he'd felt mere moments before, the one of but a few times he'd let his emotions best his reserve of late. Now, it seemed John had withdrawn into himself; the deadpan was as unreadable as ever... The eyes as vigilant as always...

His voice held tightly in check.

[Wendy Berber] [Good enough. I misread John's post. Wendy will continue to tend Drew, seeing as John has Maija + call wrapped up.]

[John Thornton] ((Folks, I'm pretty much wore out. I gotta git to bed. Can we assume that whichever answer Murray gives, John does what he can to help with the other, and what not?

Basically, put him on auto-pilot for the remainder of this scene?

I hate to run off like this, but I gotta be up again in 2.5 hours.))

[struggle] [No problem, Mandrake! Thanks for playing!]

[Drew Roscoe] Well this certainly wasn't how the night was planned to go. Drew was supposed to meet up with a couple of friends, chat with them and hang out for an hour tops before she went home and to bed. It had been a long afternoon and evening at work, several things had gone wrong involving dropped plates, incredibly rude customers, and a roaster ceasing to function, making for outrageous wait times for customers to get their plates. Drew wanted to relax, to smile and mean it.

...And instead she got this.

Some woman mugging her because she didn't yank off her pants, take the money, and be happy with that. She had enough time to grab her gun from where she'd wrapped it up in her apron, to register that people were running to try and help, that the woman had screamed for someone named Jeffy and his fly had been undone when he stepped out of the alley... But then a knife plunged into her stomach in a vicious strike and stayed there. Drew didn't manage to step far enough out of the way, and she was left staring down with wide, shocked eyes at the blood that wet her shirt, blending with the crimson that the fabric already boasted but appearing so bright on the woman's fingers and wrist.

She registered laughter, yelling, gunshots, and two more harsh rips of pain before the world span and she had collapsed in Bronzeville for the second time this week, gun clattering to the ground and apron fluttering down to join it. Her belly hit pavement and bled a steady thin stream into the crease of the sidewalk where it would travel to the curb, well, and spill into the gutter. And it would. not. stop.

Trixie fell dead atop Drew, and she did nothing but continue to bleed and grow pale. Wendy dropped to help, pressed her hands against the wounds through the sopping wet fabric of her shirt and vest, but there was only so much that could do. It would help, but only for the moment.

Real medical aid was a necessity.

[John Thornton] ((John has his car, it's a sedan, so he has room for a couple, but I suspect Maija and Drew will need to remain lying down. *ponder* John could call for an ambulance, but that takes them back to the hospital; I don't think he can smooth over "drop us off at this other place that isn't a hospital."

Anywho, I gotta go. Please let me know how things end up.

Thanks for the rp folks; I had a blast))

[Wendy Berber] [can they be moved? - answer comes "no"]

[telephone] ((What's the time frame for how far away this would be from Maija's?))
to Alexander, Drew Roscoe, Maija, struggle, Wendy Berber

[Maija] (I'll let Kai say for sure - but she usually walk to the store, and just outside of Joe/Thomas's territory as stated, so few blocks? So not TOO far? )
to Alexander, cricket, Drew Roscoe, John Thornton, struggle, telephone, Wendy Berber

[Wendy Berber] [Getting very tired over here. could just skip ahead to Ambulances, or whatever is happenin? Any objections?]

[Drew Roscoe] [None here.]

[struggle] [Let's say 10-15 minutes.]
to Alexander, Drew Roscoe, Maija, telephone, Wendy Berber

[struggle] [If you need to go we can NPC Wendy just like John.]

[struggle] [Basically if you need to go, go! Sleep >>> RP!]

[telephone] ((10-15, they would still be stablilized? Skip ahead then?))
to Alexander, Drew Roscoe, Maija, struggle, Wendy Berber

[Maija] (works for me!)
to Alexander, Drew Roscoe, struggle, telephone, Wendy Berber

[struggle] [I don't know what we're skipping ahead TO. If ambulances, you have a very short amount of time to deal with 4 dead bodies. If someone's coming, that's another matter.]
to Alexander, Drew Roscoe, Maija, telephone, Wendy Berber

[struggle] [*puts this here, too*i'm gonna go ahead and log out, guys, and let you handle the aftermath. i think by now most everyone is pretty used to the cleanup routine! *L*
thank you guys so much for playing, i was really glad to get to ST tonight :] ]

[Alexander] (thanks everyone for the RP, and thanks V for the STing! gonna bow out too. i think alexander would help deal with bodies (probably with JT?), but stay out of the halp-the-wounded type stuff.)
