omg u guise stop faighting!

[Nessa] Nessa walks into the commons room from the hallway; her pace is not fast, her step quiet. The sundress she wears is sweet, feminine, and in a white and black little floral print; there is a delicate, subtle string of pearls, nice ones, stolen some time ago.
And something else on a necklace around ehr neck, which disappears into her dress, some sort of pendant perhaps.
She probably has an armory on too; the dress may not be exactly a dress, but might separate to allow access to the knife at her waistband. Her thighs might have blades strapped to them. The glass of wine in her hand--
Is a simple Pinot Noir.
The woman ponders, her toes bare under the criss cross of leather thong holding her feet in the pair of heels. A thinking sort of kin, this one, tonight.

[Nessa] (No change !*LOL*)

[John Thornton] ((mind if I throw in this one?))

[Marrick Fisher] (go for it!)

[Marrick Fisher] She came out of her room, hair tangled and changed into pajamas; Marrick was ready to go to bed. But... for her part, she was killing time. Marrick was fighting sleep like a four-year-old. She was finding excuses to be awake- she wanted a drink of water. She was hungry. She needed to get a bed time story, she needed a shower, she needed-

She needed to be able to be awake for a period indefinite.

So, there she was, in a pair of red track shorts and a tank top that (for once) actually fit her. When she came out, she had expected to be alone. Marrick Fisher- Bones to Dust- was sorely mistaken.

[Nessa] She looks about the room oddly, this common's area, as if seeing it for the first time. From an outsider's view. It appears so perfectly normal and harmless.

Someone has left a copy of Dog Fancy, open to a monthly pampered pet centerfold. Nessa stares at it, and jerks her head away.

[John Thornton] Slow steps are heard on the stairwell leading to the common room upstairs in the Brotherhood, steps of a cadence that was perhaps calm, resigned, or intoxicated. Then, as a ghost rising from a crypt, the figure of a weary man rises into view from the landing.

A mop of furrowed brown hair frames a pale deadpan expression, with eyes of hazel ringed in circles so dark as to appear blacked by some unnamed fist. His clothing is muted, his shirt a purple shade worn open at the collar, a darker shade to match on the striped purple and gray tie hanging askew and loosened about his neck. His pants were the color of charcoal, his dress shoes shined in black polish. A black trench hangs unbuttoned from his shoulders, its fabric swaying with each step, giving mere glimpses of the polished five-pointed star upon his hip, periodically conforming to the non-visible mass at his left ribcage.

In short, John looked as always he has... Save now in a rumpled, subdued form. His clothing was wrinkled, as though he hadn't thought to iron it. Or perhaps, in another light, hadn't cared enough to iron it. The dark circles about his eyes bespoke of sleep so scant as to be non-existent, even by his spartan standards... And the furrowed trails of his fingers still visible in his scalp indicated more than a few moments spent with his head resting in his palm.

In one hand is a bottle of scotch whiskey... In the other, a glass tumbler of ice.

[Marrick Fisher] She looked at Nessa for a moment, and the ahroun approached with a quiet sort of caution. Her presence was felt before it was heard; she had a curiosity to her that one would think was only reserved for Uktena and the foolhearty. Marrick looked at Nessa- blue eyes, blonde hair, and wide awake. Marrick cleared her throat, and then spoke.

"You lookin' fer somethin'?"

[Nessa] Pressure. Anger. Tension. HInts of it move with Marrick, some garou attitude or whatever rage is which touches Nessa lightly at first, soon more firmly. Its the woman, who has changed the room.
However, not knowing What exactly or Who exactly she is, marrick isnt off limits-- per se-- yet, is she?
"Victory?" Her humor. It's not precisely... funny. Nessa's voice is rather alto, rather calm today, as if she is carefully pronoucing each word with similar calm inflection, purposefully not reacting. "No, just considering whether I shoudl come here or not. To stay. Short term, da?

And then, she turns.
Ouch. Nessa winces when she sees her friend; she hadn't sat yet, doesn't need to rise to glide over to him. "You look like shit. When did you last have anything but alcohol to drink?" For it has to have been aro und a couple years, at least.

[John Thornton] John enters the room with a simple shrug, his mouth widening into a not-a-smile. Then, with a nod to the blond he'd met the other evening (Marrick) and another to Nessa, he places the bottle of scotch and the tumbler on the coffee table before taking off his trench.

"It's been..."

A hand runs through the mop of brown hair, as a curious brow raises.

Then, with a simple shake of the head, he tosses the trench carelessly over the back of the chair he'd selected. Taking his seat slowly, John leans over to the coffee table and begins unscrewing the lid of the scotch.

"...awhile. Sometime... today, maybe."

As he speaks, he doesn't stop in his actions, the scotch emptying from the bottle into the glass until the tumbler was full.

[Alexander Vaughn] Normally, by this time of night, Alexander's asleep and Room 4 is quiet. Not tonight. The door is closed, but drums are loud, and when Alex starts up -- throwing himself abruptly into a complex groove -- the whole damn second floor can hear it.

At 11pm. On a weeknight.

[Marrick Fisher] Nessa gives her hint of humor and the blonde Fury, for her part... didn't get it. She cocked her head to the side ever so slightly. She didn't blink and she didn't do much else. The girl crossed her arms across her chest and stood stark and balanced. Nessa said that she was considering making this her residence, and the Fury too a second to consider.

Thoughtful took an edge off the Rage.

"S'a cool place, it's kinda like college," or what she thinks college would be like. Dorm-style living at hits finest. She might have had more to say, but for the time being she took a moment to regard the rumpled detective.

[Nessa] Her shawl is draped across a chair at the table; inside, adn on such a warm night, she doesn't need it over her sundress. Glass of wine in hand, she ponders John, and what to do about him.
What she does, is similiar to what someone had done for her, in a different form, in a different place.
"Tonight, I will not preach at you, John, will make sure you get home safely, as you have done for me. However. Tomorrow, we talk, da? For there are things you should know about Mrena. But you must be sober, to hear them. Will you remember?"

The second floor explodes a la Alex. Nessa starts, nearly tosses herself to one side out of the explosion's way. Problem is, music is very hard to dodge.
"What hell is that?"

[Gabbie Bellamonte] Gabbie was getting home late tonight. Or, well, one of her homes anyways. The place where some family and most of her things reside. She was dressed down, for Gabbie standards, in a pair of snug fashionably distressed jeans, ankle-high brown boots fashioned after a cowboy's but made feminine and with a soft leather, and a loose, easy-breathing top colored in peach tones, styled as a halter but with a bronze chain that looped around the back of her neck like jewelry rather than fabric. Her hair was twisted into a sloppy almost-bun at one side of her head, and she was carrying a tote bag over one shoulder.

In through the back door, up the stairs, into the common room. A rudimentary skim of the room was made as she walked through it-- three faces, all vaguely familiar but none that she would classify as 'friend'. So she passed through.

The drums were going, her roomie was awake. If she were wearing a watch she'd glance at it. She could've sworn it was past his bedtime.

The noise got louder as she got to her door, and when she opened it almost deafening, but she adjusted quickly enough, and all sound seemed dampened, like there was water in her ears, if those sounds were not coming from the drum kit. She shut the door behind her, to muffle the sound to the other guests out in the common room or in their respective bedrooms, and glanced to the dark-haired Kinfolk that had invaded her space so abruptly.

The last time they spoke anything more than one or two words was the night that things wound up in the hall, and needless to say those were not kind words.

She paused, then moved over to the dresser to unpack clothes and a bikini swimsuit from her tote bag. As she passed the drums, she offered a greeting to the man behind them. "Evening."

[Marrick Fisher] bahdatibahdatibapbapbap-

Drumming, oh hey.

-badabambahboobahTING-

There was loud drumming.

The Fury growled under her breath; there was drumming. There was drumming and it was loud and- and it was keeping her awake. Hey, she thought, this is keeping me awake. And, for the moment, the blodne could tolerate the sound. Her muscles tensed, and her arms stayed rather comfortably folded across her chest.

[John Thornton] As for John, when the drum beat starts, his hand moves in a motion all too casual for its speed to the grip of the .45 caliber pistol at his ribs. Then, as the true nature of the sound registers, he shrugs.

"Sounds like a drum solo..."

Downing a solid quarter of the glass tumbler's contents in one fell swallow, John takes a moment to refill the glass before screwing the lid back on the bottle of scotch. He seems to consider for a few moments, a curious brow raised, as the piercing hazel gaze focuses on Nessa for a time.

"Tomorrow... What things?"

[Aidan Whelan] Thursday night, and what better time for a walk along the lake? The normal working crowd were all at home by now. The moon was out. The weather was lovely.

And somehow... Aidan's steps had taken him in a different direction than he'd initially planned upon, but that was alright. He didn't let himself read too much into it. The earbuds from his iPod sent a steady pulse of music to his ears, giving the landscape a soundtrack. Tonight it was Portishead's Third, and Aidan closed his eyes for a moment as he walked, absorbed in his own little world.

I battle my thoughts
I find I can’t explain
I’ve traveled so far
But somehow feel the same

The breeze coming off the water was cool as it hit the skin on his arms, and he opened his eyes. A familiar sight up ahead caught his attention, although of course he'd known it was there all along, and he began to walk more purposefully toward it. It was the door to the kitchen that he eventually made his way through, bypassing the public area altogether in favor of ascending the stairs that took him up into the common room.

Drums. They interrupted the pulse of his music, but that was alright since he was in the midst of turning it off, anyway. Plucking the buds out of his ears, Aidan wound the cord around the iPod and stuck it back into the pocket of his jeans.

[Nessa] "Be sober and find out. Nine o clock. I will be tired then from working; if you have food then, would be appreciated. "
Extortion! Bribery! There's surely yet another crime being committed by Nessa, for all she smiles with all apparent gentleness at the man in front of her. Yes, gentleness on the face of a woman whose soul radiates Thunder's Touch.
True or False?
Nessa watches Gabbie go without comment; someone else is coming up the stairs, and she walks to the pool table to ponder its mysteries while Aidan enters the room.
"Privyet," the Russian woman offers, as her hair tie drops to the floor, freeing the mass of black curls from entrapment.

[Alexander Vaughn] Alexander barely looks over at Gabbie as she enters. After the initial onslaught he's settled into a steady midtempo groove. His attention's on the drums, grip solid, joints loose. He's a talented drummer. Not the best by far; but quite good.

"Hiya sweetpea."

There's no explanation for why he's still up at this hour. He's in basketball shorts and the usual sleeveless tee; this one reads GATORS. As in, University of Florida. One imagines that's his alma mater.

"Good day at school today?"

[Alexander Vaughn] (how well are we playing tonight?)

[Gabbie Bellamonte] "School's out, Alex."

She states that in a tone that's patient and calm, but made to be so. It sounded like she was mentally and emotionally exhausted, like a whole lot of too much had happened in the past few days. She hadn't been in her bed two nights in a row, so either she'd been out of town or she'd found a bed elsewhere within the city. Which made sense, a rich girl like her couldn't have a room above a restaurant as her only place to live.

"And school or not, no it wasn't good."

A pair of pants and a shirt were tucked away in her dresser drawers, the swimsuit, a pretty turquoise and bright orange thing that looked like it was comprised mostly of strings, was placed with her undergarments, and then the tote bag itself was folded up and placed in the closet. Sighing a little, she moved over to the desk chair, twisted it around to face the room rather than the wall, and sat there to begin removing her boots.

[Aidan Whelan] He glanced over at Nessa, and recognition dawned on him after a moment. He'd never caught the woman's name, of course, but it was hard to forget seeing someone throw a knife at the back of a police officer.

Especially since he'd later slept with said individual, and that didn't exactly win Aidan over to the black haired woman's cause. He offered her a little nod as their eyes caught and she greeted him in what sounded like... possibly Russian or something Eastern European. He didn't stick around to find out. Instead he left the common room and walked the short distance to Gabbie's room, where that incessant drumming was coming from. The door was cracked open, and he pushed it the rest of the way to regard the two occupants.

Gabbie was afforded a warm smile. Alexander was ignored.

"Evening." He had to raise his voice to be heard over the racket.

[Alexander Vaughn] "Christ, you're a mopey little bore," Alexander replies, cheerfully.

And then Aidan opens the door. And says hi. And Alexander scowls at him. "Hey, dickface, ever heard of knocking?"

[John Thornton] The not-a-smile returns, as John nods and then takes another solid swallow of the amber liquid in his glass.

"Tomorrow it is... That diner in Cabrini..."

The hazel eyes turn to Marrick, the curious brow raising.

"How are things coming with the warzone-to-be?"

Another swallow of the scotch... John's face was just beginning to flush, perhaps the merest hint of the alcohol's effect upon him.

[Marrick Fisher] Inhale.

For her part, she was ever so curious. And she... well, she thought she smelled something. Or maybe she heard something. The Fury took her time, and was quiet for the time being. She didn't speak to the detective or the Eastern European woman; because of the drumming it was hard to make out from the-

Oh, hey, drumming stopped.

How are things coming with the warzone-to-be?
"We've got our work cut out for us," she stated. "It'll be worth it, though. Has a lotta potential."

[Gabbie Bellamonte] "Well you weren't too cheery after an evening with my sister and Sam either...," she responded with a faint scowl. Of course she didn't know that he'd met Sam, but she assumed. Lately wherever her sister was, Sam was a few steps behind. So if Alexander had the pleasure of encountering Katherine, then he likely came face to face with the tall blond Modi as well.

One boot was removed, tucked beside the chair, and she was leaned forward working on the other when the door pushed open. Her eyes lifted, settled on Aidan's beautiful face, then immediately flickered toward Alex to gauge the gruff man's response to the pretty boy's presence.

Snark, but no fists. She could handle that. She spoke up, hoping to cut Aidan off before he had a chance to be a smartass right back.

"He's okay, Alex. You're not nude or sleeping and the same applies to me." Then, to Aidan. "Hey. How are you?"

[Nessa] "No. Your place. No where public, is not for other ears."
She leaves the pool sticks where they are. No playmates. With a sigh, Nessa stares at the hallway going to the rooms , and turns to collect her things from the chair. A fringy shawl. A rather large leather purse.
"Warzone? Is place kin need to avoid?" Someplace else she shouldnt be that she might be anyways? For instance?

[Aidan Whelan] Gabbie attempted to cut off any remarks on his part, but he gave one anyway.

"Would you have heard it?" Flicking his gaze to Alex, you'd never know that not too long ago, Aidan had been lying in a hospital bed because of this particular individual. The most that one could read in his eyes right now was a lazy sort of disdain, and barely even that.

Back to Gabbie, he offered a little knowing half-smile. Perhaps her comment had given him an amusing mental image. How was he? Well, that depended on the moment. In many ways he was doing very well. In another... not so much. He didn't talk about that though. Not while Alexander fucking Vaughn was in the room.

"Oh, I'm just lovely, dahling. Thought I might come by and distract you."

[John Thornton] He nods to Nessa...

"My place it is... As for the warzone-to-be... You would be wise to avoid it. It's a rough section of Cabrini."

Turning to Marrick, John nods, his brow raising curiously.

"Did you or the younger guy have any time to consider my offer?"

[Alexander Vaughn] He's okay, Gabbie says. Alex snorts. He's indeed stopped playing -- stopped the instant Aidan's pretty mug showed up.

He gathers the featherweight drumsticks up, slides them under the bass drum.

"Sure he's okay. He just keeps sending girls and Garou to fight his battles for him. What's up, Aidan? Are you here to goad Gabbie into trying to attack me again? Should I step out? Would that make it easier for you?"

[Seamus MacKenzie] (( open? and Locations if so?))
to Aidan Whelan, Alexander Vaughn, Gabbie Bellamonte, John Thornton, Marrick Fisher, Nessa

[Marrick Fisher] "We're still considering. Got any intelligence?"

She had to ask, but they may as well ask. She kept her arms folded, weight planted. She waited patiently and listened. After awhile, she moved to go get a book off the nearest bookshelf.

[Gabbie Bellamonte] Gabbie had her second boot off, in her hand, and a serious impulse to lob it across the room, over the top of the drumset, and right at Alex's thick thick skull. But she didn't. The last time she'd thrown shoes she lost her armchair. The back had broken, the poor thing wasn't built to withstand projection. So she'd had to throw it out, and had yet to get anything to replace it. Probably wouldn't, now that the drums were taking up so much room.

Instead, calmly, she placed the boot beside the other and addressed Alex.

"Shut up, Alex, please. It's over, it's done with, stop picking fights. I'm sorry for losing my temper with you, but Aidan did not, I repeat, did not ask me to come throw a tissy at you. I apologize, I was rash."

That came out more business-like and diplomatic than she'd wanted. Truth be told she intended to apologize to him tonight, but she wanted it to be softer, more friendly. She didn't want to hate her roommate. Hopefully he could just accept it as it was, and if not she'd rehash later when Aidan wasn't around to get his hackles up.

As for Aidan, she turned her clear blue eyes on him next and smiled faintly, almost apologetically. "What exactly did you plan on distracting me from? Or is it the other way around, distracting to be distracted?"

[Aidan Whelan] [Man+Sub - I feel so betrayed!]

[Nessa] (Commons room)
to Aidan Whelan, Alexander Vaughn, Gabbie Bellamonte, John Thornton, Marrick Fisher

[John Thornton] John's brow remains raised, the not-a-smile remaining upon the otherwise deadpan expression.

"What I gave you last time proved I can hold up my end... The ball is in your court now.

Should I find anything I can't use, you'll hear it first."

With that, John downs the remainder of the tumbler's contents, his jaw tightening as the liquor burned his throat. The flush of color about his cheeks seems to deepen as time progresses, the volume of alcohol becoming more visibly apparent even as he reaches for the bottle of scotch and begins unscrewing the lid once more. The dry cubes are swiftly re-submerged within the amber liquor.

[Nessa] For once, Nessa watches the two, this stranger and John, wihtout joining in. Undoubtedlyi she shoudl introduce herself. LIkely, if she does, the woman, who seems nto an indecent sort, will go on the shut-up-and-take-it list.
Therefore.
The Russian refrains from any sort of introduction, and merely smiles sweetly to both John and Merrick, before heading downstairs for the evneing.

[Marrick Fisher] "I'll keep in touch," she stated. All business in a youthful, athletic frame. She looked at the book that she'd picked out. 1984. Marrick had never actually gotten all the way through it.

He was drinking something that smelled like... well, she wasn't sure, but is smelled like it had a high alcohol content. Something amber- scotch or whiskey or something to that effect. The Fury regarded him with brows knit. Nessa smiles sweetly, and she gets an upward nod of a goodbye.

"This yer first bottle tonight?"

[Aidan Whelan] At this, he eyed Gabbie, and although he made an attempt to keep the emotion out of his eyes... he didn't succeed.

She was actually apologizing. And while, true, he was frankly concerned that she had attempted to fight his battle for him (that had not been his wish)... he was also oddly irritated by the fact that she'd so easily forgiven the transgression. Especially now that she knew why Aidan had stepped between Alex and Taggart that night, thereby starting the whole silly mess to begin with.

A moment ago, he'd been cool as a fucking icicle. Now he had to take in a breath and let it out slowly to not say anything he might regret.

"Roommate frustrations. But I see you no longer have any of those." He offered the girl a thin smile, then turned and left to go back to the common room.

[Alexander Vaughn] Aidan looks visibly annoyed. Alex looks ... pleased as punch, actually. He smirks as the redhead turns to go.

"Man," he's not even trying to lower his voice, "he really is a bitchy little shit, isn't he? Anyway," he continues, "he might not have asked you, but you really think he'd tell you if he wasn't hoping you'd do something about it or at least go there-there-poor-baby at him? You think he'd be pouting off like that if he really didn't want anything? Pffft."

[John Thornton] Hazel eyes turn to Nessa as she makes her departure...

"Tomorrow."

Then, as they return to Marrick, the not-a-smile returns, the curious brow dropping to its more normal height.

"So far... Don't worry; I had... a couple glasses at the bar before I opened this bottle."

A hand rakes through the brown hair as he considers, hazel eyes tracking up and to his left as the detective tries to recall just how many that couple really was. He drinks another quarter tumbler swallow, the tightening of his jaw more pronounced, the glass coming to rest on the coffee table slightly less smoothly than it had in previous trips.

[Aidan Whelan] [WP]

[Gabbie Bellamonte] Gabbie frowned softly, the expression a touch confused, mostly concerned, and a little sad. Hardly angry, though, even if it was a little upset. Aidan made his comment and turned to leave the room, and Gabbie's muscles tensed like she was going to get up to go after him, but thoughts kept her from doing so. He would perhaps want to cool off, maybe go to Taggart's room to speak with him instead. And, truth be told, Gabbie was entirely too exhausted in more ways than just one to try and apologize twice in one night, to backpedal and make everything right.

She was worried she may snap at him herself, then they'd be fighting rather than one individual in the doghouse. She didn't want to fight. She let him go.

Instead, sighing quietly, she looked at Alex, shook her head, then moved to the dresser they shared, checking her reflection in the mirror that was connected to the top of the piece of furniture, removing her earrings and taking her hair down. She gave Alex her back, but watched the reflection of his face.

"Well I have no doubt that you, in your own way, complained about him and Hatchet handing you your rear end to your pack of friends." That's right, that 'bitchy little shit' punched Alex out, and Gabbie reminded of that. Would you like whipped cream on your humble pie? "And it seems to me all he wants is a friend who'll be on his side. I do owe that to him, he's always there for me. So, I suppose I should tell you this: If you don't like Aidan, that's fine by me, I don't expect you to, but I'd rather you not go out of your way to harass him, and I wish you wouldn't speak bad about him in front of me."

[Marrick Fisher] "Just keep sharp," she insisted. It was as close to concern as the Fury could get. She did not know this man. She did not know what he lost, but she knew that look in his eyes. She had spoken to Boy about it before. She nodded to herself. "Y'ain't doin' yourself or anyone else any good if yer out in lala land."

He was headed out to the common room, and Marrick caught the movement at the corner of her eye. The Fury looked at him for a moment; they didn't really know each other. She didn't know what he did for a living, where he was from or whether or not he preferred thin crust to thick crust pizza. She knew he wasn't that fond of Liz Phair.

"Aidan, hey," she said. Hey, like a greeting. Not quite as enthusiastic as a fanatical fangirl, but more the kind of pleasant surprise that came with finding five dollars you didn't think you had.

[Aidan Whelan] By the time Aidan got back out into the common room, he was practically livid. And to top things off, he was livid with himself for being angry to begin with. For letting something so patently stupid actually get to him. He'd heard every damn word that Alex had said, and fuck if it wasn't exactly the kind of thing which would make any Fianna's blood boil.

A shame he wasn't garou. A shame his anger didn't crackle around him like a halo, like it would if he were, say... Marrick.

She caught him at an awkward moment, where his teeth were grinding and his hand was clenched, nails digging little half-moons into the flesh of his palm.

"Hey Marrick," he responded in surprise, doing his best not to let her think that his anger was in any way directed at her. There was a forced smile given, but anyone with half a brain would be able to tell that he was upset right now.

Inhale.

He'd stopped himself in the hall. Stopped himself from running back in there and trying to clock Alex in the face. He should really go back and do that.

Exhale.

No, that would be stupid.

Oh...just... fuck it.

"Will you... excuse me, for a moment?"

Suddenly, he turned and marched back down the hallway, swinging back into Gabbie's room and fixing Alex with a steady gaze. "Care to repeat any of that when my back isn't turned?"

[Alexander Vaughn] "Actually, sweetpea?" He swivels around in his stool to face Gabbie, still behind his complex phalanx of drums and cymbals. "I didn't complain to anyone about Aidan. I just found his little ass and kicked his face in. Only people I spoke to about Aidan were the girls that were trying to scratch my eyes out on his behalf because, oh geez, I kicked his face in.

"Which, I gotta admit, sort of mystifies me because somehow -- despite reminding me repeatedly that he managed to tap my lights out ...after Hatchet did most the work -- none of you crazy bitches seem to get that he started that shit."

He reaches out and taps his fingers on his snare drum; then reaches under it to fiddle with the snare. "Also," lazily, "answer me this. Why exactly are you protecting him? Why do you owe him friendship, exactly? I don't know, I just moved in, so maybe you guys go way back, but as far as I can see, you seem to be coddling him because he's the only thing you've found that's more pitiful than you are."

-- ow?

"And if that's the case," Alex finishes, with a grin that bares his teeth, "you should let me introduce you to the Bookworm. Because she's way more pathetic than even Aidan. You'd love coddling her."

[Alexander Vaughn] --and, since Aidan has come back into the room: Alexander tips him a little salute right around I kicked his face in and keeps on talking.

[Toia] [Heh. I'm almost scared to come IC.]

[Alexander Vaughn] (pfft, come on in, the water's fine.)

[Gabbie Bellamonte] Aidan got a salute from the man behind the drumkit, and that was all, to acknowledge that Aidan had, in fact, heard what the other man said about him behind his back. Gabbie wasn't sure if Aidan realized that Alex would have said it directly to his face if he'd stuck around long enough or not, but that was beside the point. Alex had turned to face her, talked to her like she was stupid, and she could handle that. It's how he spoke to everyone, and he did have a bit of a point. Aidan did enter a fight that wasn't his. As for whether Hatchet started it or not she didn't really know or care, Hatchet wasn't involved in this right now.

But when he went to calling Aidan and Gabriella both pathetic in one breath, she locked her jaw, closed her eyes, and tried to take a calming breath. In through the nose, out through the mouth. They're only words, only words.

Pathetic.
You're a fucking coward, Gabbie.

And she snapped. She spun about on her bare foot and stalked toward the drumkit as she spoke, her voice low and even in a way that was almost more dangerous, more infuriated than what yelling would be. "Alexander, do you have some sort of a complex? A good reason for taking others by the throat and dragging them into the dirt at every given opportunity? Did your parents not love you enough when you were a child? Are you upset that you weren't born Garou? Are you compensating for something?"

She reached the drumkit, moved so that she was standing in the space that Alex would use to move out from behind it and into the rest of the room, and clenched her hands into fists so that she wouldn't grab his shirt and shake him vigorously by it. "What the HELL is your problem?!"

[John Thornton] At Marrick's words, John's eyes become haunted, as though he were seeing something other than the reality playing out before them.

"Some dreams are... better than others. Lala land included."

With that, the detective drains the last of the tumbler, several large gulps of amber liquor disappearing as the mostly melted ice cubes within are once again exposed. Placing the glass on the table absently, John takes the bottle of scotch whiskey in hand and stands. His pace is slow, slower than for any sober person, though his step is more controlled than the lurching gait of most inebriated drinkers.

He almost starts down the hall toward Mrena's room, the not-a-smile wide upon his lips as habit compels him to the action, before stopping a mere two steps into the motion. The not-a-smile dies, the thousand yard stare giving way to eyes that view reality with disbelief. Hazel eyes that watched as though what he knew to be reality and what he could accept were not the same, and until they were, reality was lying.

He turns, stiffly... A hand raking the thick mop of brown hair once again in dismay as he starts down the stairs to the first floor.

[Aidan Whelan] "Hey douchebag, you seem to be conveniently forgetting the fact that you started that shit by randomly attacking my... friend."

In the heat of the moment, he'd paused at the mention of Taggart... almost perhaps called him something other than 'friend.' And the falter was obvious to anyone who might be paying attention, but then... Gabbie stepped up just then to do a more than adequate job in providing a distraction, and while she threw a fit in Alex's general direction, Aidan raised his eyebrows slightly in surprise and stepped forward... just in case the man happened to respond to her violently.

[Toia] Second floor to the Brotherhood is somewhere that she's told she can get a room for the night. She'd called ahead, way ahead, two days ahead - at least, to make sure that all was fine. She needed somewhere to crash, to sleep off the travels, somewhere to kick back, call home without worrying about doors being kicked in while she was trying to recoup.

John was coming down the stairs, just as another person was coming up.

Pale skin, paler eyes, and pale hair. A bright red t.shirt, complete with trendy tears and a black singlet beneath. Low slung, skinny jeans, were in a pair of boots strapped up the calves.

She slides to the side, putting her back to the wall to let him on past, tracking John with her gaze.

[John Thornton] John, for his part, just continues his slow, measured pace down the stairwell. Shaking his head slightly as he goes...

((That does it for me, folks. *wave* Thanks for the rp and goodnight))

[Alexander Vaughn] Let's get something straight.

One of the most brutal things about Alexander is not the fists, not the fury, not even the spitting invectives that hurtle out of his mouth. It's that sometimes, he's capable of unleashing buckets of hurt without so much as losing his temper. Or his cool. Or his grin, even. It's that when he lays into Gabbie, or Aidan, or Lee, or whomever the fuck, half the time he's not mad; he's just ... laying into them. Ripping into them. Out of callous disregard, out of self-centered lack of empathy, out of disgust or disdain; out of anything but anger.

But when Gabriella says, weren't born Garou, some fine thread of smirking amusement snaps. He stands up so fast his stool topples over, narrowly avoiding putting a hole in his bass drum.

The tendons in his neck stand out when he shouts at Gabbie:

"MY PROBLEM IS YOU.

"You, and you," he jabs his fingers at Gabbie, at Aidan, "and all the rest of you blind, wimpy little kinfolk who are so damn happy to be mediocre and hide behind the nearest big bad wolf. Nevermind if they walk all over you! No problem! Part of the fun! My god! You love being a pushover so much that you'll coddle anyone else who's a goddamn pushover. And god forbid someone other than one of your precious furry friends actually takes a stand for himself!"

[Toia] She let out a lost whistle when she got to the second floor, with shouting echoing through the walls. If she tried she could make out some of those yelled words, but as it was, she was a little more intent on having a glance around the second floors common room for indication of people.

"Not going to get much sleep tonight, " she had mumbled to herself, lifting her brows in a non-impressed sort of way. But nor was she very surprised at the thought.

[Ewan Selwyn] (( Alex should meet Seamus. lol
to Alexander Vaughn

[Alexander Vaughn] (*LOL*)
to Ewan Selwyn

[Gabbie Bellamonte] Gabbie took note of the exact point at which the smirk was wiped off Alex's face. She'd hit a soft point, discovered something. That was stored away, perhaps for later use, analysis, something. His stool wobbled dangerously and tipped to hit the floor, almost ruined the big bass drum but, luckily, did not. He loomed over her, which didn't take much. He wasn't terribly tall, but neither was Gabbie, and gender difference gave him a five inch advantage. But she didn't quaver, didn't shy away from him when he did this.

He roared at her.
She roared right back.

"YOU THINK WE'RE HAPPY?!" She was clenching her fists so hard that her short but nicely kept nails bit into the heels of her hands. Her shoulders were trembling, not with hurt but with utter rage, with a lowercase 'r'. "None of us have an easy life, are merely content to hide behind others! We've accepted what we are, what about you, hmm?? You're bitter," as she says the word, she jabs a finger in the air toward his face, a few inches shy of shoving it into his mouth. "that you weren't the 'chosen one', and so you take it out on everyone around you! Grow the fuck up and get over yourself!"

[Ewan Selwyn] (( Seamus is the other side. he's really nice.. but he'll shoot a bitcch RIGHT in the eye if pressed. Doesnt' belive in hiding behind garou either))
to Alexander Vaughn

[Ewan Selwyn] *Slipping though the back door he looked around the kitchen. This place tended to get his rage up, but the moon was very very new in the sky so he figured he'd swing though and see what all the fuss was about.

Moving to the stairs he headed back up to the common room. He'd been here before but not at all often.

At the top of the steps he pauses hearing raised voices as well.

Ewan wasn't much to look at. Tall, 6'4" boney, skinny. Dressed in Chuck Tailors, jeans with one knee blown out, a black longg sleeved teeshirt with a crimson red short sleeved tee over it with "WELCOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL" On it. On his head a cap with golden exclimation point on it.

He took in the common room with glassy clear blue eyes and tilted his head to listen*

[Marrick Fisher] Marrick had her book, and the Fenrir was headed down the stairs. She looked at him for a moment, but then she saw him going down the stairs and on the way out. She knew that look. She knew it because she'd seen it time and time again. But when all was said and done, John was headed down the stairs and-

MY PROBLEM IS YOU.

"Sonofabitch-" she inhaled and headed off to the hall quickly. The Fury abandoned her book, leaving Goerge Orwell to fend for himself.

The blonde made her way down the hall to the sound of the commotion; last time she had been near Gabriella's door, she had been taking things out of the room and piling them up as though she had been a participant in a particularly nasty breakup. And, while-

YOU THINK WE'RE HAPPY?!

The Fury stood in the hall and, given who and how she was, she could not help herself-

"Th' fuck is goin' on here?"

[Aidan Whelan] There are many things that Aidan could be justifiably called. Many rather unpleasant things. But pushover was one that he did not like to hear, especially not now. Not when he'd been waiting EIGHT FUCKING DAYS for Taggart to say one word to him other than mah bitches.

You could say it was something of a sore spot. So while Gabbie and Alex screamed at each other, Aidan stood quietly still until the limits of his self-control smashed headlong into a wall, and he suddenly threw himself at the shorter but much more muscular man.

"Leave her the fuck alone!"

Gabbie told Alex to grow up. She'd probably be telling him the same thing in a couple of moments.

[Alexander Vaughn] Gabbie's attempt to play meatshield fails pretty badly: Alexander simply shoves her out of the way, behind him. She better not trip over his drums. Then Aidan's stepping up with a punch and Alexander's not ducking from it but stepping into it. The redhead's fist glances off his cheekbone, leaving a mark that'll be a bruise in twenty minutes. Alex's head cracks off the other man's face, but it's not so well-aimed this time.

Then Gabbie's jumping Alexander from behind, which predictably only serves to infuriate him more. "Get off me!" he shouts at her and -- more or less carrying her along -- steps up with fists flying.

[Gabbie Bellamonte] And then all hell exploded in Room 4.

The ruckus had drawn a crowd-- two blonds, one very earthy looking and the other utterly surreal, and a tall man with dark hair all crowded the doorway to see what the hell was going on.

And what was going on?

The pretty young girl standing between the men was grabbed roughly and shoved behind the dark-haired one at the drums. She stumbled, but caught herself, and thankfully did not fall. Aidan punched, glancing the blow off Alex's cheek, while Alex cracked his skull into Aidan's face, but didn't do much besides thump his forehead with the top of his own head.

And Gabbie grabbed at Alex's arms, cinching them behind his back to keep him from throwing blows. She hoped Aidan had enough integrity not to hit a man while he was held down-- a second time.

"Aidan, everyone, get out!" She shrieked this anxiously, but didn't sound frightened or panicked. If anything, she meant business.

[Aidan Whelan] "Gabbie, stay out of it for once!"

The last thing he needed or wanted was for someone else...especially Gabbie... to get in the middle of things, as if he needed protecting. He probably did, but frankly, he'd rather get knocked out again.

She was holding onto Alex's arms, though, and with a frustrated little growl he held back on hitting the man again, because that would have been an asshole thing to do.

Even though he kind of wanted to.

His nostrils flared slightly as he got control of himself, and he gave a curt little nod to Alex.

She'd looped her arms through his and locked them against his back, holding using his own body to help her keep him still in a sense.

And even while physically still they still goaded each other.

This had Gabbie glaring poison over her shoulder at Aidan, then glancing to the girl with all the Rage.

[Marrick Fisher] Because, for some strange reason, the ahroun was drawl to assbeatings like a moth to flame, she just stood there and watched for the time being. She wasn't concerned, she wasn't fretting of flailing, she was just... well...

[Alexander Vaughn] "We're not done!" Alexander shouts after Aidan as the Fury -- precariously -- drags him out of the room.

"Gabbie," he twists around as far as he can to speak to the girl, "if you don't let me go in three seconds, I'm going to fucking hurt you."

[Aidan Whelan] This was just... stupid.

Gabbie held on to Alex while Marrick stepped in and got hold of Aidan, but not before Alex got in a nice little kick to the head. Had he not had his arms tied down by a werewolf, Aidan might have actually done something about it. As it was, he was twisting as hard as he could to break free the moment he heard Alex utter the words I'm going to fucking hurt you.

"Gabbie let him go!"

If she got hurt because of him, he'd never forgive himself.

[Gabbie Bellamonte] Marrick does as Gabbie asks her to, and bless her heart for that. The two couldn't be together in the same room. It was like sticking two male dogs together in a small backyard when there was a female in heat not too far off. They were going to fight, and it was going to be bloody. They needed to be separated so they could cool their ever-loving jets.

So Aidan gets hauled out, and Gabbie would have given him an apologetic farewell glance were it not for the fact that her face was hidden behind Alex's back. He pulls to get free, and somehow Gabbie manages to keep him put. Her bare feet dig into the carpet, preventing him from charging forward and dragging her with him, and her arms keep his pinned against his back, preventing him from swinging blows.

He threatens to hurt her, and she nearly scoffs. As though she hadn't been harmed in a fit of rage before. He twisted to look back at her, and she tipped her head up to look at him. She had her cheek pressed into his back to help for leverage, so he could see her back and legs, but it was an effort to twist and actually see her eyes and mouth.

"I'm not letting you go 'till you promise you'll sit down and take a minute off." Spoken sternly, like the mediator her sister was.

"Think they spike the food here?" A light smirk touched the side of her mouth.

[Gabbie Bellamonte] [Hold-hold-hold]

[Marrick Fisher] Marrick Fisher was a Black Fury. That was enough to be said there.

[Marrick Fisher] "Get. The fuck. Out," she growled. The implication was clear: get the fuck out before I lose my patience.

[Toia] "You too, Selwyn. Catcha around." She nodded and watched him head off, before she turned her attentions back down the hall. Toia wouldn't approach, not yet. New Garou in new territory, heading up to the outside of a fight in a closed space? No, she'd hang back and wait for the outcome.

[Ewan Selwyn] *nodding, Spindoctor headed back to the pack house. FOR THE HORDE!!*

[Alexander Vaughn] Annnnd the pandemonium continues.

Aidan gets dragged off. Alex threatens Gabbie. Marrick charges in, full of Fury fury. Aidan's right behind her. Alexander probably would've carried out his threat, except then, to his great and endless delight, Aidan's pretty pretty (and slightly bruised) face reappears.

He swings at Alexander. Who can't dodge, and wouldn't anyway. Who takes the block with a grunt, and then rears back and kicks -- kicks like somehow who knows how to kick.

It's a quick back-and-forth scissoring of his foot. The foreswing glances off Aidan's face. The back drives his heel quite hard into the other kinsman's cheek. There's a crunch. A deeply, satisfying, crunch.

Alexander doesn't much time to savor it. Marrick is boiling into the room, and though the girl looks about 18, the snarl that comes out of her throat makes Alex's blood run cold.

She can see his adam's apple bob as he swallows.

Then: "Sure, whatever." He'd hold up his hands if he could, but of course, he can't. "I'm done. Just tell this little fuck behind me to let go first."

[Marrick Fisher] "Let go," she told Gabbie. And the girl looks about like she's eighteen. And she looks like she's furious, and she looks like she is keeping her temper in check. For now.

She folded her arms across her chest, her muscles were tense and she had more presence than she seemed to really be able to contain. He swallows, and her voice is even. And her eyes don't leave his; the blonde Fury makes herself quite clear.

Assuming Gabbie lets go, she watches until he leaves. And then?

Then she tries to usher Aidan out the door was well, because Gabbie said for them to get out. And this was the young lady's territory, of sorts. Then again, it was Alex's too, but that seemed to be part of their problem.

[Aidan Whelan] Alex was done. Aidan was done. Well, not really, but Gabbie and Marrick weren't going to let this continue, so he let it drop out of sheer exasperation.

Marrick seemed to have things pretty well under control, too, so Aidan followed her out, flexing his jaw experimentally and feeling a sharp pain where his cheekbone had probably fractured. His nose was bleeding too, and he put a hand up to catch the blood as he walked away. He didn't ask for any help, and he didn't wander down the hall to check and see if Taggart was there, because if he had been... Aidan wouldn't have wanted him to see him this way.

He just looked at Marrick, gave the woman a little nod which may have been a 'thank you' and may have been an apology... then he left.

[Alexander Vaughn] The truth is, Alexander would've thrown one last punch the second Gabriella let him loose, if Aidan had still been in his reach.

But Aidan leaves first. And Alexander's eyes follow him, dark, glittering, some black humor in their depths: downright predatory. Gabriella lets him loose at last, at Marrick's behest, and he rotates his arms in their sockets.

"I'll see you in a bit, sweetpea," he tells her. And cracks his neck to the side. And, passing Marrick, has the audacity, the downright outrageousness, to pucker his lips at her in a mock-kiss. "You too, Xena."

Out in the hall, he catches up to Aidan. The man looks less than steady. Alexander bumps him hard with his shoulder as he passes, turns when he's past. And smirks at him.

"Oops. Sorry."

[Toia] Aidan comes slinking out, bleeding and bloody and she stepped out of the way to let him through the common room, and Alexander wasn't too far behind. She watched him check the other, injured one, complete with mocking, and snickered a little under her breath.

She stayed standing to the side, leaving people to move up and down the hall, out through to the common room. Calling after Alexander, "Good place to stay, then?"

[Alexander Vaughn] "Oh yeah. The best." Alexander's heading toward... the laundry room, it seems, to pick up a fresh towel before hitting the showers. When he comes out of the laundry room, towel over his shoulder, two bruises on his face starting to turn colors, he looks Toia over again. "Who the hell are you?"

[Marrick Fisher] After awhile, she walked out of the room. Marrick shut the door behind her carefully, inhaling slowly and taking a moment to recollect herself. She looked at Alexander. Gaze was even, and she didn't even roll her eyes. The blonde Fury headed back to her room rather slowly.

Time for sleep.

Rapture.

[Toia] She had watched Marrick eye off Alexander, then head off on her own way.

Fuss over, she began down the hall, heading towards one of the spare rooms, when Alexander pulled her up.

Half shaved head, dreadlocks of pale blonde and blue, had turned to regard him over her shoulder. The rest of her body turned, facing him in the hall.

She eyes the bruises, ".. the fuck you care?" there's a mild laughing undertone to that, having been spoken lightly. Clearly she didn't summarize him as someone that gave a shit.

[Marcus Schwarzkopf] ((You guys care if I jump in?))

[Toia] [go for it.]

[Alexander Vaughn] (not at all, but i'm on my way out! sorry, gotta grab a shower myself and zonk!)

"You're right," he says, and flashes a pirate grin. "I really don't."

He winks at her -- surprisingly fucking charismatic when he wants to be, and when he wants to be is generally limited to when he's managed, somehow, to pad that monstrous and fragile ego of his -- and heads for the showers.

cops and robbers.

[Shadows of the Night] The weather seems to be perfectly content to perpetually flip-flop between lazy sunshine and sprawling cloudiness and the rain that is falling down on them now. It doesn't seem as though it's ever going to be dry enough to walk down the sidewalk without risking a spill, but at least they don't have to contend with the foot traffic that is pervasive in times of calm, gentle weather. Weather that they haven't seen in days.

It's well past the rush hour, the hour when everyone is attempting to scurry from their little offices and their little cubicles and get back to their little houses with their little families. The only people who dare go out on the streets, whether they be in the tranquil North Side metropolitan Near North Side or the desolate South Side of Chicago, are those who have a damn good reason to be out there.

A drug score, for example; or a date; or insanity. Maybe all three.

For whatever reason, the weather or simple sound judgment, the good people of Chicago are off the streets tonight, and the employees who are stuck inside the candle shops and the cheese and wine stores and the salons of Lakeview are considering shutting down early.

[I would like the following from each of you before we do anything else:
1. I would like a PM of your Strength, Stamina and Purebreed traits, plz.
2. I would like you to adhere to a 10-minute limit during posting (less than six sentences sounds about right) and a 3-minute limit during declares and rolls. There are eight of you tonight and I am taking my nighttime medication at 11:30 EDT come hell or high water; if we don't finish by midnight something awful will happen to your characters' families and loved ones, and maybe even their neighbors and coworkers. If you have any questions IM me directly, don't ask in the chat; I won't see it.
3. I would like you to wait for me to prompt you in the chat to post declares and inits. You're all smart people but I want to double check your mechanics and math so that we don't have a pile-up if someone makes a mistake. And if someone does make a mistake and I don't catch it, just let it go. Don't correct the person in the chat room for me or something awful...
4. I would like... A HUG! No, j/k. Have fun, let's do intros.]

[Aidan Whelan] How exactly does one thank someone for fifty thousand dollars?

The answer is: you can't. There was no amount of kindness or gratitude which could make up for a gift like that. But that didn't mean that Aidan wasn't going to try, and so he'd spent the better part of the day at Lilly Pembroke's home on Lakeview, hanging around like an over-zealous puppy and telling her a thousand and one times how completely and utterly undeserving of such a gift he was. For her part, she'd just smiled and told him to shut up and stop pretending like he really wanted to spend his day with a woman in her seventies.

Now he was on his way back to where he'd parked his car around the block, blinking as the light rain scattered droplets on his clothes and his eyelashes. He was wearing one of his nicer outfits: black tailored pants and a dark green buttoned shirt with the cuffs rolled to the elbows. The bruises on his face were gone. One never would have guessed that only a few days ago, he'd been in the hospital. Well... other than the fact that he still tended to favor the left side of his ribcage a little.

[Alexander Vaughn] Coming the other way on the same side of the street, Alexander. He smirks when he sees Aidan, but at least he isn't charging after him with his fists balled up.

[Danicka Musil] She's coming out of a Pottery Barn. Yes, a Pottery Barn. Not an indepedent furniture maker, not a Crate & Barrel, not anything like that. A god-damned Pottery Barn. Why? Because she likes their furniture, dammit, and she needs a desk.

Someone's going to school this fall.

Danicka is not, however, toting a desk out of Pottery Barn. She's leaving the store after putting some papers in her purse, elegantly extending her umbrella as she exits. It's the same one as before, black with the cloudy-blue-sky pattern underneath. She's wearing ankle boots, a knee-length black skirt, and a sleeveless lavender shirt with a lovely lace embellishment at the neckline. Her hair is down. And curled at the ends. It's damn near bouncy. So is her step.

[Giacomo Castellano] This is Mr. Castellano's neighborhood.

It's not a beautiful day.

His greyinsh slacks and white silk open-buttoned shirt aregetting wet and his hair already soaked from the walking. It hadn't been doing this when he'd left the house obviously and he'd decided not to drive but to take trains or hoof it to make pick ups and take meetings all over the city today. He's still some five blocks or more from home, and it's getting truly infuriating. At least even if he's not wearing a jacket since he'd forgone the tie today he is carrying a briefcase. Otherwise the mostly paper in paper packages within might've gotten completely ruined.

And that in his line of work is enough to make some very tetchy people very angry.

So Giacomo, Jack or Jackie as far as most are concerned strides as close to the innermost part of the sidewalk he can, trying to avoid the rain with the occasional awning.

[Liadan Whelan] Líadan Whelan is not in a hurry to get out of the drizzly, unhappy weather. The hood of her new navy blue hoody is pulled low over her face, not out of concern for her hair, but for her glasses. It's a pain to have to keep finding a try spot on the hem of her tee shirt to wipe the water droplets on. Her hair is pulled back loosely at the nape of her neck, so there's nothing about her that would make her stand out in the crowd of pedestrians walking through Lakeview. Except that there aren't many pedestrians out.

She sloshes though a puddle and curses inwardly as her canvas shoes provide no protection from the wet.

[Lonna Larson] "Do you think they have a William Sonoma around here?" She said as they walked. Lonna had her purse over her shoulder, her hair worn down and trying to be uncooperative.

She was out preparing for a wedding shower. She was trying to find something and someone and somewhere that would please Bridezilla. As that Lonna and Nessa had not found a virgin sacrifice, a box of expensive candles and a giftcard to somewhere expensive and kitchen related.

Nessa had heard the whole spiel of it while they were walking. The tall blonde lamented- she met this girl at work. They were friends. She invited her to her wedding shower. And then? Then demanded satisfaction. And nice kitchen supplies.

Attire was simple- light colored capris. Blue tanktop. Sandals.

[Maija] She walks.

That's one constant about her. It's her stress relief, it makes her feel better, it keeps her from killing that little prick who decided that DRUMS were a good idea in a dorm room setting. So she walks - and eventually comes to Lake View, not because of any particular need to actually be in this area, or any real decision at all.

It's random.
And it's raining.
And it's muggy hot.

Nevertheless, she has her tattered gray sweatshirt on, despite the heat, and that hood pulled low over her eyes, her waif-thin frame drowning in acres of fleece, her hands shoved deep into the -roo pocket as her beat to hell boots splash through puddles, uncaring if she gets (more) wet. She doesn't seem to be, but she is watching and aware of those around her, even as she skirts the shadows, keeping out of sight, doing her best to remain invisible.

It never works, but that doesn't mean she don't try.

[Nessa] Finally, the weather has turned to something Shadowlords can enjoy. The last days of lovely rains and storms has had her out improving her umbrella collection, rainslickers and boots and such.
Designers make clothes JUST for stormy days. Lovely!

She has 24 umbrellas now. A few of them, she even paid for. Today's umbrella du jour is printed with a small army of wildly colorful, fluttering butterflies. The one she had gifted Lonna with before they had left the Brotherhood is also fitting; a sky of rainbows seems to have been sacrificed , just to print allll over the fabric. It's just a little girly, and quite colorful.

Her face is solemn enough to clash with the cheery rain toys, and just maybe, all that black she is wearing makes Nessa look rather like she had been to a funeral today, or maybe she's one of those persons who wears Urban Black everywhere, or maybe, she's a Shadowlord. Black except for the silly giant flower. Summery fashion black. Black play clothes. Black wrap top and dress and a jacket to keep her shoulders dry and her weaponry hidden.
Nessa tries to soothe Lonna, for pretty kitchen thigns were fine and concealed the fact that the woman woudl mostly order out anyways. What is not to like? Much female chattering occurs.

[Shadows of the Night] The sound of footfalls slamming on the pavement comes out of nowhere, like a small herd of horses stampeding down the sidewalk. There isn't just one person running as fast as he can, but at least two, and the closer of the innumerable bodies is not moving as fast as whoever is after him. But he's still moving as though he's in desperate trouble.

There are more half-bloods out here than you can shake a stick at, and most of them are in his fucking way.

The man, in his early 20s and his clothing filthy and blood-stained and tattered, comes hurtling around the corner with his arms pumping and his feet eating up concrete and his eyes wide. If he is watching where he is going he isn't doing a very good job of it: he looks over his shoulder to see if he is still being pursued, and in the process, runs right into Lonna, knocking her to the ground before barreling into Danicka.

[Shadows of the Night] [The running man seems like a perfectly nice young man. You have no clue why he's running.]

[Shadows of the Night] [You can tell the man is frantic but otherwise he seems normal.]
to Aidan Whelan, Alexander Vaughn, Liadan Whelan, Nessa

[Shadows of the Night] [You can tell that the man is Not Normal--he has Rage in him.]
to Giacomo Castellano

[Aidan Whelan] Only two people could have made this evening stranger or more complicated: Taggart and/or Gabbie. Sometimes fate just seemed to like to push people together at inconvenient moments.

Well, fate could go fuck itself, because Aidan wasn't playing its little game tonight. And when Alexander Vaughn gave him that little smirk, Aidan's response wasn't to freeze up and run, or even to get angry and attempt retribution. After all, if Aidan got himself all riled up every time someone physically injured him... he'd probably have given himself a heart attack by now. Alex was, after all, something like person 26 to beat him up. Step in line, buddy. Everyone hates the pretty boy.

(Kind of amazing that he was still pretty, come to think of it. But that was the joy of being descended from werewolves.)

So this was what he did do: cocked his head to the side, put his hand to his mouth, and blew the little bastard a kiss, complete with sarcastic grin. Then he gave him the finger. Just for good measure.

That was then he heard footsteps, and turning to look... he saw a blood-stained stranger come hurtling into Lonna and another woman he didn't know. That wiped all consideration for Alexander out of his head as he turned and ran towards them, a look of concern showing on his face as he bent to help Lonna to her feet.

"You alright?"

The was addressed first to Lonna, and then to Danicka, whom he looked up at after offering Lonna his hand.

[Alexander Vaughn] It's muggy and it's raining. Alexander is in running gear, training shorts and a loose sleeveless tee. Actually, that's what he's doing: running. And getting soaked. And not really caring. He's running fast, the way he was in Grant Park -- what's jogging to him is nearly a sprint to your average middle-class American. He covers the ground and when he's close to Aidan --

some random dude barrels out of nowhere and knocks two women flying. And Aidan goes to play white knight. And Alexander jogs to a halt, shakes his head once, like a dog, to snap droplets of water out of his hair and eyes.

"Hey, man! How you doing!" He's within arm's reach now. It doesn't matter that Aidan's bending to help Lonna up. Alex more or less jumps on him, his left arm arcing out to lock around Aidan's neck in a 'friendly' embrace so aggressive it was nearly a clinch. Alex's skin is hot and damp, his body solid with enough muscle to bring to mind unpleasant memories of how fucking hard he could hit. He stinks of sweat. "Look at that, your face totally survived. I'm so happy for you, man!"

-- and his arm tightens, hard, yanking Aidan closer to his own 5'9" height: up if Aidan's still crouching, down is he's standing out. Alexander thumps Aidan once on the chest with his free hand, quite a bit harder than necessary before letting go.

At last, Alexander turns to the victims of the hit-and-run, curious. "What the fuck was that about?" If anyone or anything was still on the ground, Alexander drops down to help pick shit up. "You guys wanna sue? That's reckless endangerment or something, dude. Good thing my man Prettyboy here was around to help out, huh?" And he hands Lonna her purse with a big, toothy grin.

[Danicka Musil] A man comes barreling around a corner, and Danicka either hears his feet pounding pavement or notices him knocking Lonna down. She barely glances back over her shoulder before she deftly sidesteps, a look of bored patience on her face. She does, however, see Liadan as she is turning her head. Her purse is secure over her shoulder, her umbrella still in her hand. She's about to call out to her roommate when the tattooed jogger comes up, all gregarious and flapping his jaws.

Danicka lifts an eyebrow. "Yes, we should sue people for running," she says drolly, and then gives a whistle. "Lee!"

[Giacomo Castellano] This fucking rain.

It's still setting the transplanted east coaster's temper to a razor's edge, enough that he doesn't realize the blonde who's come out of the pottery barn in his path is the mystery woman he'd seen on at least three occasions and never actually spoken to. Fate had seen to it he was shot, more than once in fact the last time he'd been within twenty feet. His hand adjusts itself on the handle of his suitcase and he's considering holding it up over his head like some jamook despite the fact he already looks like a wet animal.

Then someone comes barreling through throwing a hipcheck better suited Jack thinks for a Devils game than a sidewalk and nearly topples over the girl in front of him. "Hey, watch yourself asshole!" This is not altruistic. Jack's venting out frustration at his inability to prepare for the weather at someone who's knocking over the pedestrians in his corner of the world. His neighborhood goddammit and don't let anyone tell you differently.

Giacomo keeps walking though, slowly catching the group around the casualties of the man's passing.

What Jackie is perceptive enough to catch is the name shouted, it's one he knows. It's source revealed brings one seconds, then two of impassive curiosity followed my a dawning realization that that is in fact mystery blonde and Lee must be.... yep. That's them.

One can't decide if he looks like he's going to stay or run as fast as he can before the other shoe drops.
Because around that one he can only associate the smell of powder and the burning feel of blood pouring out of him and the fear that this might be the end.

In the end it's neither. He stops. Briefcase in hand and stares at the assembled, each in turn before checking the face of a gold watch.

[Liadan Whelan] The stranger knocks Lonna over, and Lee watches as her roommate sidesteps in time to miss ending up in a similar position on the damp concrete. She catches sight of Alex just as Aidan breezes past her to help Lonna. She watches as Alex grabs Aidan, and she feels her muscles tighten and her teeth grind, but he just hugs him tightly, pounds his chest, and lets him go. Líadan relaxes, trying to remind herself that she couldn't defend Aidan before, what made her body think it could now, just a few days later?

There's a whistle, and she's been spotted by her roommate. “V!” She reaches out to hug her roommate with one arm, turning her head to watch the stranger run away. “Should we go after him or something?”

[Lonna Larson] When the Coggie hit the ground, it sounded like someone dropped a bag of potatoes. A bag of five foot eight inch, busty potatoes.

So, when she hit the ground, and looked at the perfectly nice man who seemed to be training for a marathon, she just could't figure out why he was running. He must have been in a hurry; wife's in labor, he really had to go to the bathroom, and he was about to miss a cab. Lonna came up with the best of excuses.

Now, she almost took a face plant, and the only thing that she could think of was that she was wearing light colored pants and was sitting ass-down on wet pavement. She looked up at Aidan and took his hand. She was getting up, and she was getting herself together. Her hair was a mess.

"Yeah, I'm fine... I'm just going to have to change pants or something," she said. She looked at Aidan, then Alex... then Aidan again with brows raised.

"Oh, nah, there's no need to do anything. he's probably just in a hurry, had a good reason to be running," she said. It didn't seem ominous, she just shrugged a little. Alex gives her the purse back. He shoots her a huge grin, and for her part she... just... took her purse back. "Thank you."

[Maija] She - doesn't like to be noticed. And while she typically notices much about other people - the running man is just that to her. A running man. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. He barrels into that beyond pretty thing from last night, and the other girl sidesteps, but others are there to help her up.

Maija is firmly of the 'do not get involved' camp. And thus, she stops where she is, dark eyes flicking between the one that did the barreling, and those barreled.

[Nessa] Nessa curses loudly at the sudden violence; she hadn't felt it coming, heard it, nothing; she jumps to Lonna's aid, a step or two to get her own body between the sexy blonde and the human bowling ball, while Aidan moves to help Lonna back up.

Wait-- last time she saw a man running crazy like that, he had a pack of crazy BSD lupus after him. The lord kin stares at his wake to see what pursues him... Just the guy and girl from the Brotherhood last night. Or rather, they aren't pursuing. Actually, the jogger is now beating up (Sorry, On!) someone who seems to be rather kind and thoughtful. And beyond them?

Make that, Nessa puts herself between the Lonna and whomever aimed the bowling ball man at them. Her expression, her body language, should anyone notice, is rather intent, rather tense.

Company coming?

[Shadows of the Night] Maija isn't completely ignored: two figures come hauling ass after the escaping brunet, the younger of them nearly bowling her over.

"Jesus Christ kid, move!" he shouts at her before deftly sidestepping.

They're around the corner in staggered succession, two tall blond men in khaki slacks and polo shirts and sturdy shoes, gaining on the man as if they've caught a tailwind. It is not a freakish speed that they've got going, but given how thin the taller of the two of them is and how athletic the younger one looks it shouldn't be a surprise that they can move faster than the linebacker of a man who they're chasing.

The man plowed through Lonna as if she wasn't even there, and a moment later he slammed into Danicka in the same manner but didn't knock her down or even seem to faze her. Now he is pushing away from the stylish blonde, throwing another frantic look over his shoulder and completely ignoring everyone else around him.

"Keep runnin', dickhole!" the younger of the two men hollers, tearing through the conglomeration of Kinfolk while the taller man slows down, huffing to catch his breath. It's then that the gathered have the opportunity to notice a Phoenix Police Department badge hanging from his left hip, underneath the flap of his black waist-length leather jacket.

"Everyone alright?" he asks, planting his hands on his hips while his partner shoots after the desperate man.

[Aidan Whelan] Arms were around him. Sweaty arms. And then there was a thump to his chest that sent a bolt of pain through his nerves, making him grind his teeth and wince.

Fucking douchebag.

There was only one proper way to respond to that. Since, you know, Alex had decided they were such good friends and all. Reaching up with his hand, Aidan smiled oh-so-pleasantly and pulled Alex's face into his own to plant a kiss right on the other man's lips.

"Oh, I'm doing just peachy."

That was when the two detectives raced by, and the second of the two paused, hands on his thighs, to ask if they were alright. Aidan looked at him curiously for a moment, wondering what the hell they were doing out here from...Phoenix.

"Think so."

Assuming Alex doesn't clock him in a moment.

[Danicka Musil] It's rainy and wet and everyone is getting hugged. You'd think they knew each other when nothing could be further from the truth: Danicka's vaguely familiar with Nessa, has 'met' Jackie, and is living with Lee, but she only knows that Lee and Nessa are Kin. As far as she's concerned, the rest of them are alternately very attractive or rather douchey or completely unknown human beings.

Lee throws her arm around Danicka, calls her 'V', and Danicka smiles mildly. She doesn't pay any mind to the man who slammed into her, doesn't seem terribly concerned with the cops chasing him, and so she raises an eyebrow. "Do you normally go running after any old asshole on the street just because he's an asshole?" she asks, sounding so openly curious it's almost childlike.

It's not hard to tell what city she's from. This is rolling off of her like the rain off her umbrella, which she shifts so it covers Lee as well. Two other men run around the corner to zip after the asshole, one of them is stopping to pant and ask if they're all right, and Danicka is being distracted by a redhaired man in nice clothes is kissing another man, who she can only assume is his boyfriend. It's so sweet that she smiles to herself, nods to the detective:

"Yes, sir,"

and turns to Lee again: "Let's grab some tapas."

[Alexander Vaughn] Aidan thinks Alex might smash his face in again now. But Alex doesn't bring up his fists. Or flinch from the kiss. Or return it, for that matter, but he does bring his hand up to the other man's chest to push him firmly back. "Whoa," laughing, "man, I know it was good for you in the Park the other night, but try to control yourself, huh?"

Great; now everyone thinks Alex is Aidan's douchebag boyfriend. And then Lee's walking up, and under normal circumstances, Alexander would totally have some smartassed remark ready. He might even be enough of an ass to ask Lee where she was hiding this friend of hers that Friday night they met, because god damn.

But these are not normal circumstances. Two guys, apparently cops, are tearing through them and Alexander's opening his mouth to say something when they barrel through and he just shuts the fuck up and jumps out of their way so fast you'd think they were poison.

The taller of the two wants to know if everyone's all right. Alex stares at him. The hairs on his arms are standing on end. He wishes he were a good liar right now; he wishes he could put a mask on his face that hides what he's feeling, but he can't. And the look on his face is sort of ... well, sick. Like he'd swallowed a cup of castor oil.

"Hey. Officer. Yeah." He grabs Aidan's shoulder with one hand, Liadan's wrist with the other, and takes a step back. "We're fine, man. Totally cool. Better go after your guy. Heh. He's uh... he's getting away."

He doesn't take his eyes off the cop. And he takes another step back, yanking the two kin closest to him with him. Forcibly, if need be.

[Giacomo Castellano] The figure on the ground catches his eye and should've before, in all likelihood. It's, Lonna of course.

This? is turning out to be the strangest afternoon Jackie has had in a long time. That's saying something, what with the giant furred monsters and a secret society completely different and too similar to his own. "You okay, doll?" Catching her eye and only looking briefly before-

He tries, so, so hard to ignore the fanooks making out in the street.

And then?

The cops.
Awesome.

If he gets scared he doesn't show it. Instead catching the man's eyes directly. "Everything's fine. Might wanna help your partner catch that maniac though." If the detective is looking them over, he'll see the Italian man doing the same. The badge is unfamiliar, but it's not as though one simply see the name of the city without getting right up to it and he's certainly got getting that close to the man's belt. Suffice though, to know he's not from here.

[Liadan Whelan] Líadan turns back from watching the second man run after the first to see Aidan...kiss Alex. Right on the mouth. She doesn't know, at first, if she should laugh, or try to get between them, or both. She decides on neither, and turns her attention to her roommate.

“Tapaaaah why are you touching me?” This she turns to Alex, who has grabbed her wrist.

[Lonna Larson] Jack asks if she's okay, and she nods. Lonna even took a moment to check her bakside. True to form, she was in good condition. Her pants had seen better days, and the definitely needed to be washed. He got a slight smile; the world was moving a little too quickly to do more than that and give Jack a non-verbal affirmative.

And then? Time to talk to the cops about that relatively nice, relatively harmless young man running down the street. Odd, they detectives made her stomach turn, made her look curiously while the blood-splattered man didn't.

"What's going on?"

Lonna asked the police officer, Detective, mister Phoenix PD, what was going on.

[Maija] She's not completely ignored, though when someone barrels around her and yells at her to move! she does - it's automatic, steps taken to very quickly put her back to a wall.

Just another day in the neighborhood, right? Right.

She catches a glimpse of that badge, and cusses under her breath, long, thin fingers lifting to pull that hoodie down lower, shoulders hunching as she shoves her hands back unto the 'roo pocket of her sweatshirt. Don't matter where the badge originated. A badge is a badge and a missing person's report/runaway search/amber alert is the same everywhere.

She can totally blend into the wall - right? Meanwhile, she watches.

[Nessa] She doesn't know Alexander Vaughn, nothing about him at all, save that he was in teh Brotherhood looking for Gabbie's room; save that he's kin or garou, save that he was one second acting out dominance issues with Aidan and the next, jerking two kin away from the Phoenix cops with an expression like he just ate.. well, some of Nessa's borscht.

The man running, so like in Grant Park. The pursuers, cops, outside of Chicago like those she was warned about by Yuri; but the distance!
She had been about to assume that her experiences were making her paranoid until she sees the joggers face, his undisguised reaction. The way he avoids the cops.
Its all just tooo familiar now.
Her eyes narrow, and her gaze drops to the pendant around her neck; some carved, painted and rather beautiful and with a particular glyph painted on it. Mrena had done brilliant work.

[Shadows of the Night] Their man's getting away.
He might wanna help his partner catch that maniac.

"Oh," the cop, a sergeant according to his badge, says, not moving from the position he's chosen but briefly gazing over shoulders at his partner, "I think he's got it."

After he finishes speaking he levels a clear blue gaze at the short man trying to haul his buddies away from him. There isn't really anywhere to go, no place to hide except for the park across the street behind the line of cars, and the running man finds that out a moment later when the younger plainclothes policeman catches him by the back of the neck and bodily hauls the heavier man towards the alleyway.

"Let go!" the guy shrieks, immediately starting to claw and scratch at the guy's face with both hands.
"OW, fucker!" the younger detective protests as they disappear behind the Pottery Barn.

[Shadows of the Night] [Nessa achieved three successes, so she'll be in there for a while. But! [Aidan Whelan] Alexander's little jibe rolled off of him as if he hadn't even heard it. He was distracted now, glancing back and forth between the older cop and the other one who had run after the man into the alley.

Then Alex was grabbing him and Lee and yanking them back, as if somehow there was something wrong with the detective. Sergeant. Aidan glanced at the other man irritably before pulling away. Something about the look on Alex's face though...

The man was practically freaking out. And Aidan was pretty sure it had nothing to do with the fact that they'd kissed.

"What the hell is it?" (This directed at Alex quizzically.)

[Shadows of the Night] [In that case! He isn't wondering what Alex's problem is--he knows what Alex's problem is, and he's considering focusing his attention on him rather than the guy they're chasing.]
to Nessa

[Alexander Vaughn] "Just shut up," he mutters out the corner of his mouth, irritably, to both the Whelans that won't shut up about why he was pulling them aside. Couldn't they tell he was trying to help them? Jesus Christ.

Then, raising his voice: "Hey. Hey. I've got a great idea, guys. Why don't we all get tapas and let the nice officer do his job? Huh?"

Alex's back is to the alley. He hears the yelling, but he doesn't turn from the tall cop. He just keeps stepping backwards, yanking Liadan and Aidan bodily along with him. He couldn't be doing a worse job of looking unrattled if he wore a sign reading: FREAKED OUT NOW. GETTING AWAY.

[Danicka Musil] There is nothing whatsoever odd about this detective other than the fact that he's from Phoenix and he's hanging out in Chicago. Danicka, however, could care less about the bloodsplattered man they were chasing and she could care less about getting mixed up in their business whether she has a bad feeling about them or not. She wants something to eat, and maybe a beer.

And then Alex, the tattooed boyfriend of the redhead, is yanking on her roommate. She frowns at him, because Lee clearly does not want to be grabbed on by him, and reaches over to physically SMACK the back of Alex's wrist. She's not a particularly strong woman, but she certainly doesn't hold back. "She is a grown woman, dickhead. Let her go."

She isn't freaked out at all. There's no reason to be.

[Giacomo Castellano] Boston.
Mick.
Cop.

Every Italian-American Yankee fan's hatred trifecta. Unless he's one of those who's got a cop brother, in which case it goes, Boston, Mick, Mayonnaiser. Colleens like Lee of course do not count but that's getting into the intricacies of this too far. Suffice to say that Jack doesn't like this man on principal alone.

And what the fuck is a Tapas?

Jack smirks at the words 'nice officer' and tuns back to the man who's uttered that word for the second or third time this one has likely ever heard it. "Christ keep your han-" The blonde takes care of it. Jack isn't one to practice as he preaches and this occasion is no different but appearances are wonderful things to keep up.

Lonna seems alright and so it's eyes back on the officer. That's where they stay.

[Liadan Whelan] Líadan is told to just shut up, and she does. She tries to catch Aidan's eye over the shorter man's head, but the distance between Alex's height and hers is not very great. She releases her hold on her roommate's shoulders to keep from dragging the well put together woman with her. She snaps her eyes back to the cop, but sees nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that would illicit such a response from Alexander Vaughn. But then, she doesn't know Alexander Vaughn at all. Maybe the Miami man is wanted in Phoenix. Somehow.

Danicka smacks the back of Alex's hand to make him let go of Líadan. The tall redhead takes the opportunity to try and twist free of Alex's grip. The man looks like he might bolt at any second, and she's not sure she wants him to still have a hold on her when he does.

[Lonna Larson] (willpower!)
Dice Rolled:[ 5 d10 ] 1, 3, 3, 5, 8 (Failure at target 7)

[Lonna Larson] That was the thing with those bleeding heart types. He seemed like a nice enough guy. That young man? You know, the one that knocked her flat on her ass. The one that was being led off behind the Pottery Barn and her brain went to all sorts of horrible places.

And, instead of being a compliant little citizen, she turned around and started to make her way to the back alley that the guy had been led to.

Her brain went to places that were awful places, and she just... she just couldn't stand it. Now, this said, Lonna wasn't the most atheltic of creatures. She was above average, yes, but she didn't run for a living. or at all for that matter. With a rack like hers, bouncing must have been a genuine concern. Right now, she didn't particularly care.

[Maija] It's Alex's reaction that gets most of her attention. He's freaked the hell out - and well, the few times she's seen him before, he has always seemed the type that does not freak out. About anything. Ever. She's known his type. She's hated his type. But she recognizes it, none the less...

Narrowed gaze on the cop, and she moves closer, sliding along the wall, fingertips trailing the wall of the poopery barn, doing her best to remain unnoticed, but at the same time ready to shove whomever is closest, back with Alex. out. of. the. way.

Of what?

Doesn't really matter. Alex is freaked, and that's enough for the waif he calls 'mouse' - or 'shorty', depending on the day. Lonna is closest to her, and conveniently one she has met. Low, her voice, barely carrying to her and Nessa.. "Hey. Maybe yeh should..."

And Lonna starts off - and she cusses again - then raises her voice a little "Hey, no, really - yeh should..." and she's reaching to take her arm and stop her.

[Administrator] Nessa has seen enough; felt enough. Heard enough. She, too, listens a moment more, then jerks her attention out, and says. "Tapas. Now."

The shadowlord grabs Lonna and Danicka (if nearby) by the hand, with a no-nonsense grip that is probably a little painful, and pulsl her towards the direction Alex is going, going around a little so her back isn't to the 'officer.'

[Shadows of the Night] "That's a great idea," the detective sergeant agrees, smiling a caustic, gap-toothed smile that doesn't look as if he's truly agreeing with the guy. It doesn't reach his eyes.

Back in the alleyway a rather large amount of weight hits a solid metal object and shouts in furious pain. The sound of a solid organic object hitting a squishy organic object sounds out, and then the sound of another large amount of weight and an "Oof!" Whatever's going on over there isn't going so well.

One would think that this guy would be doing something to help the battered boyfriend and the helpless friend, or would be doing some sort of crowd control what with the number of concerned women he has around him at the moment. But he isn't. He just keeps his eyes on Alex and poses a question.

"You know what would really help me out, pal?"

Something catches his attention, though, and as Lonna starts off towards the alleyway, the sergeant turns towards the creeping Maija before she even starts talking. His gaze is unamused as she speaks, and he turns away from the small coterie of half-bloods to address her.

"You know, you oughta keep your hands to yourself, there, sweetheart."

[Aidan Whelan] It was Alex's evident fear of the cop that got Aidan's attention, moreso than his pushy insistence that they leave immediately. And in spite of the fact that Aidan wrenched himself away from the other man's grip yet again, he did in fact comply in making a retreat, moving back with the others while he attempted to figure out what the hell was going on.

That was when Lonna suddenly started running towards the alley, and Aidan, instinctively, broke away and started running after her. He had no way of knowing that one of the other men there might find this somewhat suspicious behavior. He wasn't thinking about that. He was thinking about Lonna getting herself into trouble.

"Hey, Lonna! Ignore them... let's get out of here."

[Alexander Vaughn] People are breaking in all directions. Some people are actually heading for trouble. And then someone whacks his hand, and his two not-really-friends are both pulling free to feed themselves more readily to trouble --

-- and Alex's short patience comes to an end. It snaps.

"No. You know, actually?" He's hot under the collar. It's in his voice, the belligerent way he gets up in the cop's face. "I don't want to know what would help you out. I don't want to help you out. I don't think you're a cop at all, and I think," he abruptly raises his voice to shout at everyone else, "all you stupid motherfuckers that are standing around frowning at me should run like hell."

[Danicka Musil] "Oh, for the love of Christ," Danicka murmurs, her irritation so mild it can only be sighed out. She gently extricates her hand from Nessa's grasp, giving the other Shadow Lord kinswoman a patient smile. "Thank you," she says, and withdraws her arm.

There's people scrabbling all around, which only serves to deepen the pretty little line in her pretty little forehead, and then Alex snaps. She lifts an eyebrow; she can tell he's genuinely nervous, but as far as she knows he's a paranoid schizophrenic. Doesn't know him from Adam. Doesn't know Aidan from Abel. She could not care less about the big-breasted woman rushing towards the alleyway or the street urchin trying to sneak past the cop. So: she ignores the lot of them. Especially the one with the badge.

Danicka shakes her hair off her shoulders, lifts her umbrella, and steps off the curb to cross the street, skirt swishing around her knees. "Lee, I'm going to Tres Sueños, it is just over there," she says, giving an idle point in the direction she's walking. "I'll get us a table."

[Giacomo Castellano] ...I don't think you're a cop at all...

Jack's foot slowly steps too close to the other as he silently thanks God. Not the mother woman who's also the earth and queen of spirits the rest of them believe in. No, his. The big fire and brimstone man in the sky he prays to at mass every single Sunday. He gives thanks because he's not wearing loafers and he unties one shoelace with the sole of the other foot. He squats as if he's just noticed it, reaches to tie and examines the man closely.

Lonna's going the other way but that's not at all what's got his attention.

What does is the badge. Not the badge itself but the fact that when he looks at it he ought to see a big blue piece of paper sticking out of the back of the man's pocket. It's possible of course the younger of the two has an arrest warrant for the guy or that they'd come upon the guy at the scene of the crime...unlikely seeing as these are not boys in their own jurisdiction. Phoenix, he finally reads.

One hand goes over the lump on one ankle and thinks the better of it.
Something isn't right here.

"Kid's right, Sully." He stands again and moves a step closer. Then another. Balls of shining brass on this one. "You're a looong way from home. What's your game?"

[Liadan Whelan] Lee hears the commotion in the alley way. Her head snaps back in that direction, snaps back to the cop, and she moves so she's a little more behind Alex. The man might be something of a dickwad, but with all that muscle, all the bluff and bluster and athletic show, maybe he could also be something of a decent meat shield.

And then Aidan is running off to intercept Lonna. Líadan is torn between her sudden and completely foreign desire to protect the thin man who has already been beaten once this weekend, and self-preservation. And Alex is getting into the cop's space. And Danicka is walking away.

And Líadan is torn in three directions. One direction to Aidan, the person she could consider family if she knew what 'family' really meant. One direction to Danicka, her roommate, the assertive one. It'd be so easy to fall into step behind her and just...walk away. And, oh why did she even fucking care, one direction to the asshole who liked to pick fights with people regardless of whether they were bigger or stronger.

She closes the distance between her and Alexander Vaughn, punches him in the shoulder. “Hey, come with us.”

Without waiting to see if he does or not, she spins on her heel and follows Danicka into the street.

[Lonna Larson] Lonna was an agile creature, but Nessa was a lot faster than her. So, she had a pretty solid grip on her hand. It was enough to make her stop. Enough to make her pull, and give Nessa an insistent look. Brows knit, jaw set, and she tried to go in the other direction.

It wasn't working.

Aidan tells her to come on, and she turns her attention on him. He says that she needs to ignore them, and that they need to get out of here. The Child of Gaia opened her mouth to say something. On a fundamental level, she was distraught, almost pained. "But-but.. If these guys... he's... someone needs to do something-"

And, aparently, the girl who got tired brushing her teeth was the one to do it.

[Maija] "Ain't no one's sweetheart." Muttered. Mostly. even as she's still reaching to complete that move to grab Lonna's arm - and Nessa has the right idea too, and drags her away from her grip anyway.

And the cop's addressing her, turned away from most of the rest of them, and she pulls her other hand free from her hoodie, reaching back as if to find the wall behind her - hopefully masking the click in her hand. Hopefully. "Yeah, alright."

Then Alex is in the cops face, followed by the other dude (what IS it with guys and testosterone?!) and she doesn't wait any longer - she springs forward to slam her switchblade into the notcopguy's thigh. Hopefully. While the rest - hopefully - run the hell away. Dumbasses.

[Shadows of the Night] Alex's tantrum doesn't seem to affect the guy one iota. Actually, that's a lie: as he turns away from Maija he looks pretty goddamn amused, like he's trying not to laugh as Alex throws it at him and then hollers to the rest of them.

In the alleyway there's scuffling, some grunting, and then the sound of a fist connecting with someone else's face.

"... fuckin' touch me!"

The younger detective's voice wafts out of the alleyway as Maija is lunging forward to plunge her switchblade into the back of the sergeant-not-sergeant's leg. He must see her out of the corner of his eye, or else he felt the air displacing around her, because he steps out of the way, then whirls around to get her in a one-man restraint.

Lonna and Nessa are preoccupied wrestling with each other, the older woman trying to haul the younger, taller blonde away from the alleyway where a sharp shriek and silence suddenly fall. Whatever was going on in the alleyway is over, but not fast enough for the sergeant.

Although Maija doesn't manage to do any damage, the star-crossed lovers who come to her aid do, each landing a punch on his back. Aidan's will merely cause a temporary welt on his back but Alex's causes such distinct if human pain to jolt up his back and into his throat that the guy grunts, lets go of Maija, and falls to the ground.

That's when his partner comes around the side of the alley, blood on his hands and staining his bare arms, and starts towards the two men, not seeming overly concerned with the pair of women.

And then Boyle's coming at him. Alexander moves like a man used to vicious fights, which he is. He turns around to grab the other's arm and spin him into a lock.

[Shadows of the Night] Okay, so that little bitch with the knives probably ought to be kept an eye on.

Everything happens quickly, Alex trying twice to stomp Whelan's skull in before the deceptively muscular younger detective is on him, swinging at his throat with his left hand but barely hitting him. He growls his annoyance, then steps around Alex to collect his partner.

That's when the knife lances across his flank, nicking his polo shirt and the flesh beneath but not doing any damage that is going to permanently scar him.

"Fuck, lady!" he shouts, and then something happens.

The guy on the ground opens his eyes with a jolt, and the kid--he can't be older than late 20s, which is a kid compared to his superior--gets him under the arm and hauls him to the ground.

"Man, I'm gettin' tired of hauling your old ass around..."

Meanwhile, Aidan catches up to Lonna, who is trying to get to the alleyway where no sound emits. Whatever happened in there, the younger detective seems to have lost interest in for the moment.

[This will probably read like Greek, but:
Whelan: 1 Faith spent, all Bashing damage healed.
Boyle: 2 Faith spent, two Lethal damage healed.]

[Maija] Sounds like a good time to just - disappear again. When that kick does nothing and partner comes up, she glances up at Alex, and then backs off. "Fuckit. I'm out." She clicks her blade closed again and shoves it - and her hands - back into her pocket.

And she is - fast pace walk, pulling her hoodie back into place, and she's off down the street. Thataway. Then that other way. No heading straight home for her. She's dumb sometimes - but not stupid.

[Alexander Vaughn] Annnnd just like that the 'cops' get to their feet, A-OK again.

Alexander's staring. He's just staring. Not even werewolves can do that -- not merely regenerate but just, poof, heal. And he's still creeped as shit, but he knows when he's outmatched.

"What the fuck are you people?"

What, not who.

[Aidan Whelan] "Lonna, please. This thing is getting way out of hand. We need to go."

He was panting gently when he caught up to the other kin, reaching out to grasp her arm and give a little tug. Aidan had no way of really knowing who was in the right. The cops had seemed like cops to him, and the man they chased... like a crazy guy with blood on his clothes. But then the older one had acted a bit... strange, and Alex had freaked out... and Maija had tried to stab the cop... and...

None of it really made any sense. And the woman with the knives? Jesus. You don't just throw knives at people who aren't attacking you unless you have a damn good reason!

[Giacomo Castellano] Click.

THumb releases hold on steel and the broad chest clean shaven man who looks anything but slick squats to set away his pistol back near his ankle when the officers retreat. "The fuck was that about, you think?" Up to the kid who just shrugged off a clean shot to the face. His accent is eastern, one of the 'News' most liekly, but certainly not Chicago.

He's looking at the kid with a predatory interest, but one obviously not carnal or anything close. He looks the way a miner might see a new vein of ore just below the surface of ordinary lime. "C'mon." This, when he stands. "Let's go have a look at the perp."

Briefcase in hand he motions Alex to follow.
Dice Rolled:[ 1 d10 ] 7

[Nessa] Nessa steps behind Alex and then looks somewhat down...

[Nessa] (target's wp is diff, lookng deeper thsi time, 3 telepathy dots, details as to what the fuck they were doing here and WHY. WHAt they are... anything along those lines!!)
Dice Rolled:[ 6 d10 ] 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 10 [WP]

[Giacomo Castellano] ((DELETE!))

[Lonna Larson] She looked at Aidan, and for a moment she seemed distraught. And for a moment she was concerned and out-of-place and worried. If nothing else, there was a subtle ache in her eyes. He says please, and he's... well, he's a friend. And with that? She goes with him. Lonna looks back at the alleyway without the sound, and her stomach turned.

And then, she couldn't look at it anymore.

[Giacomo Castellano] ((NM. KEEP! I R 'TARDED))

[Shadows of the Night] [Wrapped, suckers! Woo!]

[Alexander Vaughn] The cops don't answer. They walk away. And Alexander has the good sense, for once, to let it be.

He looks at the man with the gun, talking to him now. And he shrugs.

"I have no fucking idea, but I'm not fucking with them anymore." Jack suggests that they have a look at the 'perp' -- Alex looks past him to where Lonna stood looking into the alley, sees her face change.

"What? What's going on in there?"

[Nessa] Nessa is still, contemplative perhaps, pensive, or otherwise not involved, as seconds tick by. Sad? She lets the cops go too, makes no motion to oppose them, not until they are well out of knife range, and then she moves to retrive her blade, where it had nicked acop then clattered to the sidewalk.
Then, and only then, does she go to Lonna, to check on her.

[Giacomo Castellano] "Dunno."

Jack turns on one heel, strong. Gives Lonna a discerning look. "Lonna baby, what happened in there?"

Out one side of his motuh, quieter, to the one with the fists without actually looking at him. "You got a name, kid?"

[Alexander Vaughn] The 'kid', in fact, looks to be in his mid/late 20s. And he's in athletic gear, was jogging; had the capable fists of a trained fighter. He looks at Giacomo for a moment, and then he wipes rain off his face and flicks it aside.

"Alexander. You?" Pause. "You know Chicago has laws against concealed handguns, right? Shouldn't you get outta here before the real cops get here?"

[Nessa] Cops don't kill people and leave them in the alley either. They don't leave bodies there to rot, to be discovered, don't walk away with blood all over their arms...
Well. If they are Russian cops, they might.
But not here.
Nessa is pale. Her jaw is clenched as she runs, now, to Lonna, looks past her into the alley, one hand on her shoulder.....

[Lonna Larson] She adjusted her purse over her shoulder, and then she looked at Jack. He asked what happened in there, and she shrugged. Well, shrugged a little. She reached up to smooth her hair out of her face. They asked what happened in there, and she just replied.

"Let's just go, please?"

[Giacomo Castellano] "I don't live far. And cops I can deal with." Soaked look aside the watch is a giveaway. Guy's got money, lots of it. The gun safely under his pantleg gives him no more worry than that once he's answered the question as to where it came from the thought of it is put aside entirely.

"Jack." He tells him. "You can call me Jack." It doesn't sound like the suggestion the words make it out to be. "You're quick. You been in the ring before?" Idly while the insane putani with the knives touches his best girl familiarly.

Said girl shrugs, asks to leave. "Car's at my place but I don't think it's a great idea for you to be seen over that way." That's it, save, "I'll call you."

[Nessa] Nessa stares at Lonna's face, at her wrist where the Shadowlord had grabbed her... "Are you ok? I wanted you safe and away. They were... not right. Will explain later."
Jack. Someone else, the jogger, she'd just been coming up, had been worried about Lonna. She doesn't know either of their names. For now, she listens, waits to see if either man will speak to her, learns what she can in silence.

[Alexander Vaughn] Something about Jack's manner breathes power and wealth. Alexander isn't quite sure what to make of it. Truth is the moment Jack tries to bully him around, Alex is likely to bristle up and snap back.

But he's not bullying him. He's ... flattering him. While showing off that $5000 watch.

"Yeah," Alex says. "Mixed martial arts. Cagefights. Strictly amateur. I do it for fun." And a faint, faintly brittle grin, even while he's walking over to have his own look in the alley, "Why? You wanna sponsor me?"

[Nessa] After inspecting her insane suicidal but highly adorable Coggie friend, Nessa watches the jogger-- kin? His reaction to what he sees in the alley.
This man's reactions are.. visceral.

[Lonna Larson] She showed Nesa her wrist, letting her inspect it. No bruises, nothign damaged. She was fine, it seemed. She nodded a little and she seemed more content to talk to Nessa and think of anything that wasn't horrible and her imagination.

"I'm fine, it's just... it'll be fine. Are you okay?"

A pause, then a look back at those assembled.

"Are you all okay?"

[Giacomo Castellano] "Something like that." It's humor in that grin and he turns it fully on him. "You got a real knack. What do you do professionally?"

He is flattering him, he's a fast talker. They're near the same age but it could be the prison time, the boundless ambition and drive or the suitcase full of cash in his hand that's got the word 'kid' stuck in Jack's head as the proper noun descriptor for the other young man.

[Alexander Vaughn] Lonna wants to know if they're all okay, but Jack's talking to Alex, bringing his attention to bear on him, and let's be honest: Jack's charismatic as fuck, and when he focuses on you, you feel like you ... matter.

So Alexander talks to Jack. And no one replies to Lonna.

"I just got to town, man." He gives a laugh that's more bravado than humor. "I might get a gig as a bouncer or something." With that 5'9" height? "Or a rent-a-cop, who knows."

[Nessa] Nessa is not the flashy beauty that Lonna is, black hair, pale skin or no. She hasn't the intimate relationship of the Coggie to the men, doesn't even know about it. Today had been a makeup-less day, save for a tinted rosy lip gloss.
But when Lonna gets ignored too? Jack is worth some notice. He was probably worth some before; the distractions had been high though.
And... and.. nothing is happening.
These two guys could chatter all night. And htey say WOMEN talk a lot! Mind, under the current conditions, any talking is probably too much, where they are. She wouldnt' care, anywhere else.

Anyways. Someone has to butt in. Nessa? Is an expert.

"Hello-- please pardon interruption, you are obviously having such Fun. Is dead body there. Was trouble with killer nasty assholes with badges. More trouble to come. Perhaps- talking is better, back ahh home? Better place?? We go back to car, now, Lonna?"

[Giacomo Castellano] He does take just a moment to answer Lonna, "Yeah doll, fine."

Jack laughs like Alex just told him the best joke he's ever heard. He reaches up and pats him twice on the cheek. The hand drops back down and finds his pocket, inside is a blackberry, hopefully not completely ruined by the rain.

He's still smiling like that was hilarious, but like Alex had truly meant it to be. "Here's my number," if the other has bluetooth they can quickly connect and if not the Italian man will read it off so the other can put it in his phone.

"You got fire in your guts, kid. I like that. You take the night, you think about it." He flashes teeth at one corner of his mouth. "And if you want to start making some serious bread, you give me a call. But don't pick up that phone unless you're serious. If you're not....I don't wanna fucking hear it, capice?" With that his techno-line to the world is stuffs back away in damp clothing and he looks to either side of the street.

The mystery blonde disappeared again.
And with Lee no less.

[Lonna Larson] They needed to get back to her car. The Child of Gaia nodded, and then started on her way back with Nessa. They got a half smile, and with that she started on her way to her car. There wasn't quite the same swagger in her step that she normally had, but that didn't seem to matter. She moved with grace, she moved with poise, and she spoke to Nessa on the way.

"Let's go, I want chocolate.."

[Alexander Vaughn] There's something about Alexander that just screams chip on shoulder. He's prickly, proud; there's a strut in his step. His ego is massive but frail. His temper is quick. He knows how to fight and isn't above fighting dirty. Jack takes one look at him and thinks if he plays his cards right, Alexander would gladly break arms for him. And probably thank him for it.

This may or may not be true. It depends on how much conscience Alex actually has, and given the way he tried to stomp the cop's head into the sidewalk, Jackie might be right in thinking he doesn't have a lot.

Still, when Jackie reaches to pat Alex's cheek, the other man jerks back from the contact, wary and quick as a huntinghawk. "The hell, man," he laughs, but there's a flare of aggression in his eyes. Too much weird shit all at once. He's on edge.

But when Jackie offers his number and serious bread, that doesn't stop Alexander from fishing his cellphone out of his shorts and bluetooths the number over. He looks at it a moment, then puts it under JACK and slips his phone away.

"I'll think about it," he says. And then, a wry two-fingered wave, he continues on his way, jogging swiftly down the street.

[Nessa] She, too, moved with grace, her movements not entirely that of a cityborn human, something a little different about her. Maybe its the anger. Maybe more.
As they move away from the men, she mutters, "Really? Me too. Gaia. We need to have meeting tomorrow, to discuss what happened tonight. You will put out word? Is things they should know. And we need BETTER way of warning each other when we find things which are terrible and dangerous. What clusterfucked people we were tonight. Sooo embarrassing. You would think, in this era, we would all be more efficient? But no. Every which way, fighting ourselves... foolish. Da, we are all doomed. Terrible deaths await. Lots of chocolate, very very good idea."

[Giacomo Castellano] For his part the kinsman, just smiles back and turns to walk in the opposite direction.

"Gonna have to start that one out slow." To himself, quietly and with an absent chuckle that turns from when he looks to the sky and heads back for the inside of the walkway.

It's playoff season.
The rain isn't letting up.
And he's got work to attend to.

[Giacomo Castellano] ((Turns frown.))

[Lonna Larson] (night loves! had a blast!)

[Giacomo Castellano] (out too! awesome scene dude!)
