[Danicka Musil] [FML]
[Null Moon] [Alright, my little love pumpkins, you all know how I roll but I'm throwing the rules out there as a reminder:
1. Keep posts to 10 minutes and declares/rolls to 3 minutes unless you're asking a question.
2. If you have a question, IM me rather than asking in the room.
3. There isn't going to be any sexual violence or violence against children in this scene, but if there's anything else that's off limits please let me know now.
4. There's no posting order, and y'all can post willy nilly until shit gets real.
That's it! I'll have a post up in 10-15 minutes.]
[Imogen] Summertime ....
And the living is easy...
It's a familiar jazz standard, recognized by just about anyone, such is its coverage. It makes its way into popular television shows, plays on the radio. It is sung as a lullabye by certain parents, who hopefully have some musical skill. It was originally part of an opera, written by Gershwin, composed for those of the soprano persuasion.
The sultry songstress who sings it now is a mezzo, and has brought the pitch done to a more achievable tone. She sings it with the accompaniment of a pianist, but that is all, her voice carrying the richness of the composition. The patrons of the lounge speak over her voice, but will clap when it is over. They are here for the music as much as the company, and as an audience, is a very good.
Imogen, as a rule, is not a fervent jazz listener. There is some draw here, some reason she sits at one of the cocktail tables, a glass of half-drunk wine on her table. Of course, the reason is of no matter to a by-stander. All that matters is this: she sits at a table, alone, a half drunk glass of red wine catching the light of the centred tea light. She is dressed in black slacks with black pumps. Her dark blue blouse is untucked, her long red hair pulled back. Strands slide forward into her eyes as she straightens from her chair to pick up her glass by its stem.
Hush little baby,
Don't you cry...
[Danicka] She hates jazz. She doesn't get jazz, she doesn't understand what there is to enjoy about swaying for half an hour to one endless, rambling song, and she doesn't generally like the people who really like jazz. But the people she met at the club last night, who invited her to go out to dinner tonight, wanted to go here afterwards. So Danicka's here. She's not had enough wine to make her any more inclined to like the music here than she was before,
but everyone at the table she's at is convinced that though she's a newcomer to the genre, she's also becoming a livid appreciator. They also think her name is Danielle.
She is seated at a table with four other people: the couple, referred to primarily as Tonyandjorge, and their friends Lara and Neil, both of whom are trying to figure out if Danielle plays for their team or the other. Neil bought her dinner. Lara bought her a drink. She accepted both.
[Null Moon] Crisp autumn evenings call for stiff drinks and cool music. The evening is electric with the collective humming of possibility, the Mile teeming with sharp-dressed men and to-the-nines women. There is movement, heels and boots marching across the concrete, and the lights of the city, of the sky overhead, are twinkling on the obsidian-black surface of Lake Michigan. The lake is rough tonight, the weekend's turbulent weather sending quietly crashing waves against the distant shore. Tires whisper on the wet pavement, and the doors to Treble are open.
The buzz surrounding this place has been building for months. Under new ownership, this space used to house an art gallery; before the art gallery was here, this place used to be a psychiatrist's office. There is no hint of the place's origins, of what it used to be: there are no walls inside, everything knocked down to reveal distressed wooden floors and dark walls. The bar is cast in a black light, the rows of bottles displaying the spirits on sale tonight, and the bartenders' white shirts and brilliant smiles are powerfully lit as they move about taking orders.
This place isn't packed yet. The night is still young, but their doors opened at five o'clock and the songstress has a huge following on myspace. Her entourage, as it is, is taking up the three tables immediately before the stage. They're a classy group, all suits and skirts and black, and they clap after every song.
The food is excellent, the drinks are strong, and the specials are reasonable. It's enough to make even the most ardent jazz hater decide to stick around for one more song.
[Dice time! Roll me Alertness+Perception diff 7, plz.]
[Liadan] The sun has long since set by the time LĂadan Whelan is pushing through the entrance of the jazz club. The lights are low, and the band is playing Summertime. For some reason, that makes her smile, just a little.
The last time Lee went out to a jazz club, she was looking for something. Or, more accurately, she was looking for someone. It didn't matter who. This time she's not seeking anything, except a drink and some smooth entertainment. So she's not dressed to catch the eye. When she walks in, the only thing about her that stands out is her hair, which is a simple nondescript dark when she stands in shadow, a shiny coppery red when the light hits it. She's dressed in a simple dark v-neck cotton henley and jeans, and she takes a seat somewhere near the wall, toward the back. Out of the way.

[Liadan] When the woman on stage finishes her song, Lee claps politely along with the rest of the audience. The lights are dim enough that when she looks around, she sees no distinct faces, so she doesn't know that there are two other people here that she should recognize. Her attention is on the music, as the singer begins her next song. Her voice is low and sultry, and Lee listens, intently, ignoring the rest of the room.
[Imogen] It seems likely that Imogen has seen Danicka - they're in each other's immediate vicinity. But if the red-haired kinwoman, has noticed the blond Shadow Lord, she shows no sign. She either does not recognize her or has chosen not to acknowledge her.
The jazz songstress has finished her song and started another.
The night is like a lovely tune,
Beware, my foolish heart.
To the more perceptive (from whom Imogen is likely safe, as those who might pay attention to a single, attractive woman sitting alone at a jazz bar, are not really paying attention) Imogen's attention has shifted from the songstress to the group that has gathered at the front, her eyes narrowing, her jaw tightening.
[Null Moon] The song fades away to its inevitable conclusion, the last notes hanging on in the warm air before the music dies away and a new song begins. The women sitting closer to the front of the venue are able to make out details about the entourage that Lee, way in the back and by herself, simply isn't able to pick up on.
It seems as though someone has taken a liking to her, though. Out of the way though she may be, a young man with messy blond hair and sharp green eyes cuts a path through the crowd and comes to stand beside her. An arm reaches out to rest on the wall while the other hand remains in his pocket, and he gives her a smile.
"You look like you're hiding back here," the guy says, cutting Lee a straight, white smile and looking her in the eye as he speaks. So far as she can tell, this is a perfectly normal young man talking her up. It must be a Saturday.
[Danicka] Bored as she is -- with the music, with Tonyandjorge's affections, with Neil and Lara's probing questions -- Danicka is letting her attention wander. She sees Imogen; her lips press together for a moment and she keeps looking around. She sees Lee; she blinks, having not seen her former roommate and still-guildmate in person since a brief glimpse at the bonfire, but she doesn't excuse herself to go to the bespectacled redhead.
Because she is looking back towards the stage to continue the farce that she's invested in this music, and her eyes are drawn to a man and woman sitting there. Danicka takes a sip of air and is about to look away again when she sees something else that makes her turn towards her tablemates with a smile and tell them:
"Excuse me. I just saw someone from work. If I don't go say hi it'll just... well, you know. Bullshit bullshit bullshit," she says, and laughs slightly as she stands up, tucking her chair in and picking up her bag, shouldering it as she walks over to Imogen's table. Her hair is down, bouncing slightly on her shoulders with the cadence of her steps. She's in a knee length heather-gray skirt and a pale pink sweater with a folded collar, her boots taking her height up a couple of inches.
She pulls out a chair and sits on the other side of Imogen's table. "Hello, there," she says mildly, and leans over to murmur: "There's a woman over there with a tail. Isn't that odd?"
[Liadan] [perception + alert]

[Null Moon] It takes a moment of glancing away from the young man before Lee's eyes traipse back over the entourage at the front of the venue, but when she does, she sees something strange: one of the men at the middle table has his hand on the thigh of one of the women. That isn't the strange part. He's running his fingers up and down the length of her skirt, as if he's playing an instrument, but his fingers aren't fingers; they're claws.
to Liadan
[Imogen] Imogen's attention twitches slightly toward Danicka as she pulls out a chair, then turns to her entirely. So close, Danicka can still read the residual awareness. Though the red-haired kin's eyes are on the blond, she watches the group out of her peripheral, and her body, lapsed in the form of repose, sings with her awareness.
"'Odd'," Imogen says, leaning forward herself, setting her wine glass done, "would be an understatement. One o' th'blokes has claws. I'm just now debatin' what to do about it."
[Liadan] Lee applauds the singer, and suddenly her view of the lovely songstress is blocked by a young man with a glinting, charming smile. Which Lee returns to him.
Her hands are folded on the table in front of her, and she tips her head forward so that when she looks up at the smiling man, she's looking at him over the rims of her glasses. “That's because I am.” She lifts her hand in a shooing motion. For a woman who tends to mold herself to a situation when it suits her purposes, when it doesn't she's incredibly intolerant.
It's when she's dismissing the blond that she happens to see it, the man sitting toward the front. She sees no tails, but that's probably because she's too busy narrowing her gaze at a hand with claws.
Now isn't that odd?
[Null Moon] [*whistles*]
Dice Rolled:[ 5 d10 ] 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 (Success x 4 at target 6)
[Danicka] "That he does," Danicka says, almost cheerfully. She looks quite bright about the whole thing, a small smile on her lips and a light in her murky-colored eyes like the sun striking off a bit of broken green glass. She tips her head to the side and glances over at that table again, then back at her 'coworker'.
"Is it just me, or do you get the feeling they're with her?" she asks, gesturing aimlessly at the singer.
[Imogen] She shakes her head slightly. "I don't know," she says. "S'no way t'tell if they're just sittin' close t' the stage or friends in particular."
A glance over the Shadow Lord Kin's shoulder absently glancing at Danicka's friends. "Yeh may ha' t'find an excuse fer them to leave."
[Danicka] "I think they'll find their own way out," Danicka says mildly, without looking back at the foursome at the table. "Tony's going to go down on Jorge any minute now."
[Imogen] A copper eyebrow wings upward - subtle commentary.
"Well, at least it will distract from the claws and tails." Dry as the Sahara.
Her mouth draws to a tight seam, a spasm of distaste which she hides beneath the lift of her wine glass, a modest swallow. She will drink little now until she's decided her path.
Truth is: She should simply leave, suggest Danicka do the same. There will always be beasts of the Wyrm. If this one survives tonight, it will die another night, most like.
Still, it rankles. So she pauses.
[Null Moon] That's because she is.
There are not very many people in this club who would wave this young man off if he came over and started talking to them. He is attractive, he looks as if he, if he isn't independently wealthy, is at least well off. His clothing is expensive, his teeth clearly cost money, and he seems perfectly at ease talking to strangers.
Yet when Lee attempts to wave him off, a darkness comes across his gaze. The muscles in his jaws tighten, a current of anger surges through his body, and he stares at her as if he would like nothing more than to reach over and belt her across the face. But he doesn't. He leans in closer, a hard breath leaving his nostrils, and he leans in to whisper in her ear.
As he does this, the young man stroking his companion's thigh turns his head to look at the table where the two kinswomen are conversing. There's something wrong with his eyes. The songstress's tune dies down, and a slow smile spreads across her face.
She steps down from the stage.
[Null Moon] "I'd get up and move your pretty little behind out that door right now if I were you," he says.
to Liadan
[Danicka] "Indeed." Her smile hasn't abated. From a distance, she looks... well. Sort of like an eager young woman fawning over someone who outranks her in some way. Maybe she's her boss. Maybe the blonde digs older women. Maybe she's drunk.
And the truth is: they should both leave. Danicka should stand up, go to Liadan, and tell the other woman that it's time to go, it's time to get out of here and call folks like Curata and Wyrmbreaker and Silence and get out. It is time for Danicka to do as she is most inclined to do and run, even if she's running in heels.
She looks over at Liadan again just as the couple at the front table are looking at her and Imogen. She sees the man leaning in towards Lee and frowns briefly. Prettily. Almost pouting.
The singer stops. Danicka turns back around to look at Imogen once more. "I'm going to go get Lee." She rises.
[Alexander]
Dice Rolled:[ 1 d10 ] 3 (Failure at target 6)
[Imogen] "Meet me at the door."
The words are flat, even. Among Garou it would be a command. Sometimes, the kinfolk take up a sort of pecking order, based upon their mates. Imogen has never mentioned as to who may have claimed her, and really, her comment has nothing to do with it at all. It has to do with the gun at her back.
And the fact that they were just regarded, coldly, by a creature with claws.
Danicka gets to her feet, and Imogen does not, not yet. She divides her attention between the two kinfolk toward the back, and the group ahead. Her far arm moves, reaching beneath the fall of her black belted coat, loose and open over her frame, then falls away.
Then, she gets to her feet, and starts toward the door, or Danicka and Liadan, as appropriate.
[Alexander] Jazz clubs aren't really Alexander's thing. So he's not at a jazz club. He's outside a jazz club, because it so happens that being outside a jazz club is also being outside the sports bar next door where he was, up until he got kicked out by the management for beating some other patron's head into a table, having a pretty good night.
He doesn't smoke. So he doesn't light up. So there's really no reason for him to be out here, except ... he's checking his email on his iPhone. And possibly looking up where to go next.
[Liadan] It doesn't matter what he looks like. Things like relative attractiveness, income, career paths have never mattered to the redhead. Her interests in people are generally far, far more basic than that.
So even though this handsome young man looks the type to sweep her off in a jet to some foreign company with an unpronouncable name, when he gets into her personal space, she looks up at him again, and she narrows her eyes.
She should leave. There's a man with claws, and the singing has stopped, and this boy is being pushy.
Other people are leaving. Lee's eyes do not leave the face of the blond man. And then they do, and she's shrugging. It's not like this is the only club on the Mile. Rising to her feet, she turns to head for the door.
[Null Moon] [Doo de doo...]
Dice Rolled:[ 6 d10 ] 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7
[Null Moon] The songstress's voice had been so sweet, so pure, when she was standing up there singing "Summertime" earlier this evening. She has a voice that could very well support her for the rest of her young adulthood, is classically trained and a consummate professional when up on stage, but when she steps down off that stage, something comes out of her mouth that no human being should ever make.
It's the sound of the bowels of Hell opening up, of lives ending, and what had been a relaxing evening in a newly-opened club turns into an exodus: that sound jacks the innate survival instincts of everyone within earshot into overdrive, and within seconds, there is pandemonium. Chairs are overturned, drink glasses are dropped or thrown, people are scrambling for whatever exits they can find, and Alex finds himself in the direct line of escape of about fifty terrified people.
One man bumps right into him, and grabs him to throw him out of the way. It's hard to tell what he's seeing, if he's seeing anything other than something impeding his ability to run, and the crowd has to divert around them. People spill into the streets, cars slamming to a halt and laying on their horns, but no one is hit. Yet.
Inside, it seems as though the three kinswomen are the only ones left. Some of the entourage has fractured, scrambling for the back exit, but the songstress, the strange couple, the testy blond, and the bartender remain behind.
The clawed man gets to his feet, casting his solid black eyes towards Danicka, and starts to move toward her.

[Null Moon] Though Danicka may have very much wanted to join the crowd in running out of here, she does no such thing. She pulls out her handgun, quickly slamming a clip home, and fires off three shots whose precision bely just how little experience she has with the weapon. The bullets, however, seem to just glance off her target. He keeps coming toward her.
When Imogen fires, though, the first three tear through the tailed woman's abdomen, sending blood spraying onto the floor and knocking her to her knees. The next shot nicks her shoulder, sending more blood splattering onto the floor, and she clutches her abdomen, wracked with so much pain that she is unable to get to her feet and attack the doctor.
Outside, Alex is bumped into by the fleeing man, and in his terror, the man rears back to fire a fist into the kinsman's face. Alex catches the fist, gets the man's arms at his sides, and in rapid-fire succession bashes his head into the terrified man's face twice. Cartilage crackles, blood vessels burst, and with a wet cry, the man slumps in Alex's grip, collapsing at his feet.
The crowd is dispersing, spurred on even faster by the gunshots ringing out behind them. Lee attempts, twice, to punch her attacker, but both times her fist misses the mark. He stares at her, his green eyes flashing with electric anger, and he lunges for her.
And Imogen's target gets to her feet.

[Null Moon] Sensing impending disaster, Danicka readies one of the bloody bandages Lukas had given her and coerces the sleeping spirit into assisting her in this fight. As it awakens, she returns to her firing stance and fires off three more rounds that, once again, fail to stop the approaching creature.
Alex barrels into the bar, itching for a fight, and finds one almost immediately. He surges towards the bartender, who greets him with a failed punch. Growling, he rears back and throws a second one, nailing Alex in the stomach yet failing to completely knock the wind out of him.
Imogen takes her gun off of the tailed one long enough to plant two bullets into the gorgeous songstress, hitting her in the side and chest as she moves toward the doctor. The shots send her crashing to her knees, tearing her stockings, and without missing a beat she turns and shoots the now-standing tailed female in the chest. Another shot catches her between the eyes, and she falls to the ground, one last lash of her tail failing to hit the doctor.
The clawed man, however, takes a huge swipe at Danicka, raked claws tearing through the meat of her upper arm and shoulder, drawing blood. He grins a terrible, black-eyed grin, and looses a low cackle.
The blond-haired man socks Lee in the jaw, his knuckles failing to do more than clack her teeth together, and Lee retaliates by kicking him in the stomach and the shin, battering him but ultimately doing nothing to slow him down.
Meanwhile, Alex attempts to execute a repeat of his performance with the terrified man outside, but isn't able to secure the bartender's arms. He does, however, knock his head into the bar twice, doing more damage from pulling his hair than actually smacking his face into the lacquered wood.
Breaking free, the bartender drops into a crouch moving powerfully fast and knocks Alex's legs out from underneath him, dropping him onto his back on the floor. He pops his knuckles, and looms over him.

[Null Moon] A flurry of bullets leaves Imogen's gun: the first one grazes the songstress's face, the second punches a hole in that throat that had cleared the venue of its occupants, and the last two shots go the way of the first. The songstress is still standing, and still moving towards the kinswoman.
The bartender doesn't appear to have any more luck with his first kick than he did with his first punch. He manages to miss the grounded kinsman, and the second one doesn't even jostle him. Lee, however, continues to kick away at her opponent, bruising his thigh but failing to slow him down. He does, however, miss his first punch and nail himself in the jaw on his second attempt.
That just pisses him off even more.
Meanwhile, Alex sweeps the bartender's legs out from under him and throws a punch that feels more like a light breeze than anything else as it clips the Fomor's jaw. The elbow to the face is far more successful, smashing into his upper jaw and rattling his senses as Alex's weight comes down on him. He lies stunned, unable to move after that last blow.
Danicka squares off and fires three more shots at her leering, black-eyed opponent, but not a one of them manages to slow down her opponent. The songstress' tongue reveals itself to be long and sharp as it flicks out and toward Imogen twice, failing to connect either time. The clawed man, however, catches Danicka in the side with another swipe of his hand, tearing through her clothing and unzipping her flesh.

[Null Moon] Whatever haphazard plan this group of Fomori had had coming into this evening is apparently dashed as the Kinfolk band together and fight back. They had not gone running when the songstress loosed that inhuman roar, and they had not gone running when it seemed as though the odds were against them. Danicka is profusely bleeding, Lee and Alex are both pummeled, but they don't back down.
Imogen fires off three shots aimed at the clawed man, who is turning away from Danicka as if he has suddenly become bored of toying with her. The first two fly past his head while the third catches him in the side; she turns away to aim at the fleeing songstress, and while the bullet clips the side of her head, it does not take her down. She continues hobbling as fast as she can towards the rear exit.
Lee hauls off and kicks at the blond man as he turns to flee, and a moment later Alex grabs a beer bottle from the bartop and comes flying out of nowhere, leaping onto the man's back and hacking at his throat with a viciousness that catches the Fomor by surprise. They go crashing to the floor as the Fomor trips, and Danicka, bleeding from her shoulder and side, plunges the barrel of her gun into the clawed man's mouth.
One squeeze of the trigger, and his head coughs out a spray of gray matter and dark blood, splattering the kinswoman's face and dropping the creature in a twitching mass at her feet.
[Imogen] Her ears are ringing again. The sound is more familiar than she'd like to admit. Her gun smells of hot metal and she can catch the acrid scent of powder in the air. Beneath it, the smell of blood.
Her finger aches. Her arm aches. She is much better off than most.
The songstress is still alive - a musician she'd been asked to go and listen to, as a potential for one of Kris's many get-together bands. She isn't quite sure what she'll say to him yet.
Time enough to think of that.
These intervening seconds have dilated to minutes. Each punch of the gun's recoil, the sound of its retort were intervened by long moments of her mind thinking, the visceral ruthless thoughts of instinct.
It still remains.
Billie is running. Hobbling, really. Whimpering, maybe though Imogen cannot hear it. She can see the blood trail, see the heavy limp, the wounds that her gun has left.
The slight woman steps over one of the corpses, and takes three steps. At the first, she dumps her empty clip. At the second, she shoves another home. Hair has half fallen into her eyes - but she doesn't pay much attention.
On the third step, she plugs three bullets into the fleeing creature's back.
Billie falls.
She turns around to see what's left. Should there be nothing, she looks to injuries, next.
[Alexander] Vicious little fucker, Alex. The sharded bottle in his hand is dripping blood. There's a big smear of blood at his hairline, dripping down over his forehead, where he beaned Bumpy in the nose. Twice. And his elbow is smeared red, scratched on the bartender's teeth, where he dropped it on his face.
He drops the bottle, letting it break into fragments. He gestures to the bleeding, choking, wheezing thing at his feet.
"You want this one, Babydoll?" He laughs, all high humor, good clean fun.
Then he retraces his steps back to Barry, who's slumped down somewhere behind the bar. They can't see the bartender. They can't see Alex's lower body. They can see him draw his foot up for a brutal flatfooted stomp, though, and they can see Barry's legs twitch and jerk as it connects.
"Mmph. Won't have to tip him no more." He grabs a handful of mixed nuts off the bartop, clapping them into his mouth as he comes back around the bar. Like a man wiping dogshit off his shoe, he drags one foot along the ground for a few steps. "So what are you all gonna do about the bodies?"
[Liadan] He punched her in her face. In her face.
Even though her muscles were tiring, even though the pain in her jaw was distracting, Lee continue to fight on, kicking and kicking and kicking. Fat lot of good they do her, though.
Alex drops the guy in a heap on the floor, offers to let her finish him off. He's such a gentleman, that one. Lee's only answer is to lift her foot, and bring her Chuck Taylor into the blond man's face. Repeatedly, until he stops moving, stops twitching.
She stands back to survey the damage, see who's left standing. She recognizes every fighter, and every one of them is up, hale and...well not whole exactly. Danicka is bleeding profusely. Lee moves to see her former roommate, her right foot sliding on the bare wood floor slightly and leaving a bloody track.
“V?”
[Danicka] She is not the most savage creature here. Arguably, neither were the fomori. Danicka has raking claw marks down her arm and her hair and face and lovely pink sweater and pale gray skirt are splattered with blood, brains, and bone. There's a dart sticking out of the neck of the body at her feet, the neck that no longer has much of a head. There's gore all over the barrel of the nine millimeter she's holding onto so tightly her entire hand is white. Where it isn't bloody, that is.
Things have gotten quiet, except for the ringing in her ears. She blinks once, slowly, and looks around. Lee is alive. Imogen's alive. That... guy with the tan is alive. She closes her eyes, breathes out, opens them, inhales. Some of the things that came at them are still alive but Danicka has no idea what really just happened, other than what was going on between her and the guy with claws.
Fucking claws, for Christ's sake.
She hears a stomp, and Danicka flinches. "Jdi se vymrskat do zoo," she mutters, reaching up and wiping a bit of gristle off her forehead. And then her cheek. "Ugh." It's hardly a word: it's a throaty rattle of disgust. She's shaking, so much that it's a bit of a struggle to put the safety back on her gun. As Lee walks over, she's digging around gingerly in her bag and pulling out a length of gauze wrapped in cellophane. The gauze is drenched in long-dried blood.
"Yes, Dai?" she intones, furrowing her brow.
The wounds on her arm, visible through her torn sleeve, seam together before Lee's eyes, skin closing and knitting back together over the vivid red gashes until there's nothing but bloodstains left.
[Imogen] Imogen's mouth downturns slightly at the sight of Liadan stomping the hell out of one of the remaining survivors. There had been a moment where she had been about to approach Danicka to assist her - but seeing the bloody bandage she applies to herself, she leaves it alone.
Instead, she turns away, returning to her table, her glass of wine, still, remarkably where it was. Half-drunk.
She reaches first for her purse, retrieving from it a cell phone, casting a glance at Alexander. "They'll ha' t'be burnt, buried or sunk." She half turns away as she makes her phone call, the conversation muted as she picks up her wine glass and drains it in a swallow.
She closes the phone with a solid click. The silence here is almost deafening, even with the ringing of her ears, and the sudden calmness is at war with the adrenaline still coursing through her veins. It shows itself as only tension. As remoteness.
"I don't suppose any o' you ha' a van."
[Alexander] "I've got a motorcycle," Alexander volunteers. He munches another handful of nuts. Free now. He takes a bottle of Grey Goose too. "I say we torch the place. Jazz is for pussies anyway. I've had better fights in the cage, shit."
[Liadan] Lee watches, too tired to change her expression to one of amazement as Danicka's flesh knits together. Then her eyes travel up to the blond woman's face, and she sighs.
“I was going to ask if you were okay.” Straightening, she looks around. A reddish brow quirks at Alex's choice of liquor.
“Except burning the whole place could take out the buildings on either side.”
[Alexander] "What do you care?" he fires back at Liadan.
[Imogen] She shakes her head slightly, raising her voice to get over Alex's retort to Liadan, "Fire leaves traces. Always. If they were human in appearance, we could manage it. As they're not, we need a better plan."
[Liadan] Lee shrugs a shoulder. "I don't." And she picks up a nearby napkin and starts cleaning the sole of her shoe.
[Danicka] "No van," she says absently, stowing the used bandage back in her purse after folding it to indicate that it's been used. She'll discard it later.
Lee and Alex discuss burning shit to the ground and she takes out a compact, wiping her face, picking bits of bone and gray matter out of her hair with shudders. "My god," she mutters, then looks over at Imogen.
"I have a decent sized trunk, but no bags." Beat. "I think I'm about to faint." And with a small nod, she sits down in a chair behind her, holding her bag in her lap.
[Alexander] Alexander lets out a harsh blurt of laughter as the blonde seats herself.
"That's so pathetic."
He turns back to the others. "If we're not burning this down and we can't move it out, I say we call the wolves. Let 'em clean up our mess for once."
[Imogen] "I have bags enough," this with a quiet surety, "but my trunk won't hold all these."
A glance toward Danicka, her eyes resting on the young blond for several seconds. "Put yer head down toward yer lap," she suggests, "it'll help."
She pushes back hair from her eyes with the back of her hand, wiping it from her forehead.
A glance toward Alexander, "As effective as I imagine that to be," sarcasm is one of Imogen's most tempered wits, "I believe we can move it out.
"I'll get th'bags."
[Danicka] Her eyes snap to Alex when he calls her 'pathetic'. It's a sharp, animalistic lift of her head, a flash in her eyes that is gone, utterly, before it even flares completely. She lowers her head and, at Imogen's words, rather obediently rests her head on her lap.
[Liadan] “Do we need to, like, hack them up to fit them in the bags or anything?” When Lee is certain that her right foot will no longer slide in blood, she wads up the napkin and throws it at the body of the woman with the tail.
[Imogen] Imogen grimaces slightly, looking over the bodies. "My trunk will likely hold three, whole, I think." A glance toward Danicka, to whom she had offered medical advice for light headedness, but that clearly did not mean she was out of the conversation entirely.
"Will yours, d'you think?"
[Alexander] "That's disgusting," says the man that just stomped someone's head. "I'm not hacking anything up."
[Danicka] "I really haven't ever thought about it," Danicka intones to her knees. "Maybe two?"
[Imogen] Imogen's gaze flicks toward Alexander.
"I'm sorry, what is your name?"
[Alexander] "Alexander." He stuffs the last of his mixed nuts in his mouth, dusts his palm off, and then holds his hand out to shake. "Vaughn. Glass Walker...ish."
[Liadan] That is disgusting. Maybe she should care about that kind of thing. But Lee cares just as much about the disposal of bodies as she does about the appearance and financial status of her lovers; which is to say, not at all.
"Asshole," she says in answer to Imogen's query. And with that she heads to the bar, and plucks a bottle Cuervo from where it sits out on display.
[Imogen] A glance toward the offered hand.
"Well," A pause, "Alexander. I appreciate yer help and advice, but I imagine there's a cage for you to get back to. We will attend to the mess of the bodies quite well without you."
Liadan and her quip is summarily ignored.
"It was a pleasure to meet you."
[Alexander] Alexander's eyebrows hop up. Then he shrugs, dusting his hand again on his pants. "Fine by me. You girls have fun now. Babydoll, you want a ride?"
[Imogen] "I would appreciate if you stayed, Lee." A glance, "An extra pair o' hands will be useful."
[Liadan] "Hm." She's about to say okay, when Imogen says they could use an extra pair of hands. "Yeah, okay." The bottle of tequila is uncapped, and Lee takes a pull before slamming it on the table. She's not in the mood to argue with anyone, and Danicka doesn't look like she's in any condition to haul bodies around.
[Alexander] Alex gives another shrug, as if to say do as you like. He never got very far into the club at all; it's a turn and a few steps before he's back outside, a good deal bloodier and more bruised than he was when he walked in.
[Danicka] "Well he was just charming," Danicka says as Alex walks out, but there's no genuine rancor in it. No energy. Not even any sincerity.
She gradually sits up, the blood on her face smeared, and takes a deep breath.
[Imogen] "Ta," says the fiery haired kinwoman, holstering her gun now, and stepping over a corpse to lean down and scoop up her discarded clip. She fits it beneath her jacket into a slot in its holster, a casting a glance toward Liadan and then Danicka, her head between her knees.
It is then that Danicka straightens up, in time to see the dark-eyed kinwoman watching her. Merely seconds - and not nearly long enough to offer any insight into emotion or thought from the doctor's face.
I'll go get the bags, she'd said only a few seconds ago, before being detoured by Alexander. She turns away and heads out to do just that.
[Danicka] [Perception + Empathy: Like hell]

[Liadan] When Alex leaves, Lee simply watches him go. A ride would've been nice, and saved her some cab fare. But he's gone before she can think about asking him to hang around and wait. A second after that she remembers that she hates him. A lot. So maybe it's best that she didn't accept his offer.
She doesn't really have much experience with the moving of bodies, having only done it the one time. So she waits for instructions, orders, whatever. She needs someone to tell her what to do, because even though the sight of several dead bodies and the knowledge that her tally went up by one tonight, she can't quite fathom what it is that's expected of her here.
[Danicka] She catches Imogen's eyes for a moment -- and that's all it is, a moment -- before the doctor turns away to go get trash bags. She does not offer Liadan a ride, as they are apparently not leaving yet. She remains sitting in her chair, her knees together and her ankles crossed, bloody and more than a little disgusting thanks to her means of discouraging the clawed man from swiping at her again and again.
When told to lower her head, she obeyed. When called pathetic, she simply looked down. When she saw something in the older redhead's eyes, she didn't know well enough to be surprised. She just glances at one of the front windows. Apparently there are going to be bodies in her trunk tonight, and she doesn't argue over that, either. She stays where she is, her face drawn, and when Imogen returns, Danicka does as she is told.
She's very obedient.
[Imogen] It's straight forward. Imogen has done this before. One can guess that by the body bags she carries in her trunks. The gloves she hands out to the other women to protect their hands from blood. It is, perhaps at best, a gesture of civility. To keep their hands clean, after they have already killed a good number of what is here. To keep their hands clean while their cuffs and fronts become inevitably blood stained.
Still. She gives them gloves. It helps with the fingerprints as well.
Together, the women get the bodies into bags, and at one point, Imogen pauses to dislocate the hips of the bodies, making them more pliable. The amount of effort required is significant. Those on the Eagle Totemlink would have felt the Kinfolk reach, clumsily, inexpertly, for Eagle's strength. The feeling of the strength in her muscles is unnatural, heightening a flicker of tension in her jawline, one that becomes expected as she exerts strength, tearing the tendon and muscle beneath the skin so the body can be folded unnaturally.
And that is how they fit six bodies into two trunks which should have fit five.
Afterwards, the kinwoman draws a breath, pushing hair from her eyes as she shuts a trunk.
"Leave the blood," she says, simply. "We can't get all tha', there's no point in trying. I made some calls, but th'police'll be here soon."
She gives Danicka directions to a place on the docks, beneath a pier. Suggests that Liadan go with her while Imogen drives alone.
Beneath the pier are several large oil drums. Enough to fit the bodies in. A canister of oil.
Imogen has done this before.
"I can burn it alone, now," she says, once everything is placed, glancing at both. "If yeh want t'go home."
Truth be told - and perhaps it is only Danicka who will catch this, but mostly, Imogen would simply prefer the solitude.
[Liadan] Danicka isn't the only obedient one among the kinswomen. Lee goes where she's directed, lifts what she's told to lift, and if there's anything she might disagree with...she keeps silent. She doesn't even blanch or turn any interesting shades of green when she watches Imogen dislocate hips and fold bodies into unnatural positions.
At the docks, though she may not try overly hard to read Imogen to see that the older kinswoman would prefer solitude, it's something that Lee desires, as well.
If offers of a ride are given, Lee musters the will to beg them off in favor of a cab ride.
